Customer Review: A Great & Sturdy Little Flashlight

I own several of these little beauties & give them as Xmas gifts every year. They don't burn through batteries & hold up well to my 3 year old grandson's torture; they're light weight, feel good in your hand & are as bright (if not brighter) than the old Mag Lights I used to lug around.
But here's the problem: I've been trying to place my Xmas order for the 4-AA variety & Amazon (not the vendors) has the item # wrong. I've placed 2 orders from 2 different vendors and both times received the wrong flashlghts. It's starting to get annoying. Beware if you order these through Amazon.

This is a great flashlight. The light is bright and clear, the bulbs last, basically, forever, and, because there is no waste heat, the batteries last a long time. LED flashlights are a little more expensive than a standard flashlight. They are, however, so functionally superior that I will never again buy a non-LED flashlight. This particular light is first-rate. It is small enough to not get in the way, but produces more light than a standard flashlight. Its bright yellow case makes it hard to misplace. It is also comfortable in the hand. All-in-all, a good choice.Customer Review: A good flood light

Pros - Very bright, and with a good 20' of throw. Very wide pattern.
Cons - Black paint easily comes off on your hands when wet, bug spray on the lens clouds it up but good. I don't like the tail switch. Call me old fashioned, but I have no visions of being a SWAT cop, holding the light up near my head. I'd rather hold it comfortably down by my waist with a nice thumb clicker switch in the conventional place. The body of the light is not round, it is an elongated oval. It doesn't fit the hand quite as well as a rounded body, but I guess this is to be expected for a 4AA light.
I keep this one by my bedside, stoked with lithium AAs with my gun.
If you want a tight spot beam, get the other one, this is a flood beam.
This was my first LED flashlight. Pelican brand seem to have tougher bodies and switches than Streamlight.

I have 4 of these Streamlight L.E.D. flashlights and the battery life is awesome. The quality is top grade and the company stands by their product 100%. If you've never had an LED, you're in for a surprise. As a contractor, I use them every day and highly recommend them. Streamlight is also the brand our police and fire departments use. Also, if you're a boater, this flashlight floats! We own several Streamlight flashlights - including several units of the Streamlight 68202 4-AA Battery 7-LED Flashlight, Yellow and Streamlight 68244 4AA Propolymer Luxeon Flashlight with White LEDs, Yellow flashlights.
We love the 7 LED version. The 7 LED flashlight has a great ergonomic design and is easy to use, has great battery life and is bright and useful over short to medium distances. However, at longer distances (25+ yards) the light was so diffused it wasn't useful.
If you need a light for longer distance you should consider the Streamlight 68244 4AA Propolymer Luxeon Flashlight with White LEDs, Yellowwith the Luxeon 1 watt LED. It has the same great ergonomic design but it includes a single LED. The light is bright and useful it matches many of the best flashlights with xenon bulbs.
This flashlight does not have regulated LEDs so the run time is long (155 hours) but the light drops off slowly over time. One reviewer noticed 50% drop off in 6 - 7 hours. Still, 6 - 7 hours of bright light is pretty good on 4 AA batteries and it gives you much long battery life than the Luxeon LED version.
So, if you want a flashlight with a long battery life that is good over short and medium distances get this light. If want a light that works great over long distances get Luxeon 1 watt LED light.
