Wanted this so someone would be seen at night as well as see. This product fits the bill, the light is very bright and constant. It's very compact.
The spread is better than a conventional bulb torch using C or D cells and the batteries last longer.

I have at least 10 of these, 1 in each vehicle, 1 in each tackle box, 1 in the boat, and several scattered all over the garage and house. Rugged, bright as hell, and last a good 4-6 hours before the lights start dimming.Customer Review: Bad ergonomics

I've had this for several months and have not been very pleased with it. My frustration started on the first day, putting in batteries. There's no clue whatever on how to orient the batteries! Eventually I figured out that you need to put two in facing one direction and the other two facing the other way. (Maybe this is supposed to be obvious, but it wasn't to me!). The light is quite dim, even compared with other LED lights (my 2-AA Princeton LED headlamp is much brighter). My biggest complaint is the placement of the switch, at the back end. A flashlight is meant to be held in one hand, and turned on and off with the thumb. You can't do that with this: it's a two-hand operation to hold it and turn it on and off. I bought one of these more than a year ago, then proceeded to buy 8 more over the next months as they make greatly appreciated gifts.
Everyone we gave them to has several flashlights, but their batteries are often weak when they are most needed - such as in a sudden prolonged power failure.
The Streamlight is small and light, rugged and waterproof, puts out a great light and runs for ages on 4 AA cells.

This flashlight gives a bright light when it works but one drop on a carpeted floor and it's dead. Contacting Streamlight I found out that it has a lifetime warranty. I took it to an authorized repair center. It was promptly fixed at no cost.
This is an edit of a previous post. I would like to change the star rating to 4 stars but didn't see a way to do it.
I am purchasing a second flashlight as a backup in case I have trouble again.
