I bought this flashlight with the intention of using it as a general use flashlight. I like to walk around the house with the lights off sometimes, since i don't want to be flicking lights on and off as i go through the house at night. This light excelled at that. It is a very good floodlight, and lights up any large room well enough to see most of the objects in it. For close in tasks, the light output is plenty bright.
The operation of the light was simple enough; it was a clicky switch at the rear. The light felt comfortable in my hands and I liked that I could stand it on its end to point up. There are not many accessories for it. A light wand and filters would be nice. I did not test the waterproof capabilities of the light, but the seal seemed plenty adequate.
The light used 4 AA batteries, which is a bonus to us rechargeable AA battery owners.
Unfortunately, the light stopped working at some point after the 6 months I had it. I checked the LEDs, and they operated with an adequate voltage source. I really don't know what happened to the flashlight, but I can only give it 2 stars.
It was a nice, slightly pricey, flashlight that stopped working.

This is one tough light! Excellent wide area light output which is great for most uses around the house, shop and best of all walking the dog at night. It is not designed as a long throw spot light, there are other lights for that job. But for what it is, a great light! Battery life is also very good, on both alkaline and NiMH rechargeables. I've had one for over two years now. The LED module failed to light 5 of the 7 LEDs recently. I e-mailed streamlight customer service and they very quickly shipped me a free replacement LED module.
The light feels good in your hand and is very sturdy. Impressively bright light when all 7 LED's are lighted!

In preparing for my first 100 mile ultra run, I compared and read reviews for several flashlights. This by far is the best in comparison. In reality, it proved to be just what was advertised. For the price, you get a more light for the buck. It is very lightweight too; it also fits comfortably in my hand and easily attached to my handheld water bottle. I used it for about 10 hours on one set of batteries. The more LEDS the flashlight has the better the illumination. However, the light started to become noticeably dim after about 6 to 7 hours. This was not a major issue since my pace was considerably slower. It was enough light to guide me into daylight. If I happen to run an ultra again, I may try using a headlamp to complement the flashlight.
