I was amazed at how small this humidifier was. I have it running in my cubicle. I had been getting shocks from touching things around me and this has stopped, thanks to this humidifier. It's about the size of 2 or 3 cigarette packages. I love it!

Bottom line: Do not buy this. It doesn't work, and the company doesn't care. This sounded like a good idea, especially since I travel a great deal, and especially in the winter, motel's can get very dry with their heating system, and I like that I can take a simple water bottle and "screw it in". Bottom line: yes it does spew out some mist. However the thing leaks like crazy. It has damaged more than one nightstand. Here's the worse part... the "customer service" is not only non-existent, but actually abusive. When I spoke to them, there was an attitude like I was some "cold caller" waking them up at three in the morning to try and sell them a condo share holiday. The amazing part is that the unit was still on warranty, but when I tried to give them my Amazon order number to prove it was purchased in less than a year, they said: "we don't accept Amazon order numbers!" It's the only number you get when you order through Amazon! Of course this is made in China, and these people are just bag men who sell this crap to unsuspecting customers, and realize that because it's not that expensive an item, you are SOOL when it goes bad and will most likely just throw it out. The unit must cost them about $2.00, so they make a profit, and really don't care. There are dozens of other units that work just fine, and more important, the company's that sell them cares a little bit about their product, and stand behind their warranty. Not this one. Stay away at all cost. Really. The unit doesn't work, and you will lose your money. I promise you that.

alright so... here's my experience with this thing.
1. the humidifier does create mist... but,
2. the air fan rarely works, meaning the mist won't come out.
3. even when the fan does work, this thing leaks mist, and leaks a lot.
4. when the fan doesn't work, which for me has been the predominant state, the leaking gets even worse.
5. I had the humidifier turned on for 5 hours, it only removed about 1/6 of a 500ml water bottle.

Considering the number of positive reviews this product gets, I'm sure not all of these humidifiers malfunction... I was the unlucky one. However, I also a considerable number of negative, this-thing-doesn't-work kind of reveiws, meaning you have a good chance to be the unlucky one.

Look for something else like the Air-O-Swiss, which is the one I'll give a try after I return this thing.

The Supentown International Inc. (SPT) SU-1051W humidifier is my choice for a very small personal humidifier to take in a rollaway bag while traveling. For years I have taken various sized humidifiers while traveling, and this is the best very small humidifier I have yet found. It has a blue light that stays on, but that can be blocked with a little ingenuity. If the manufacturer could install a switch to turn the light off, the unit would be perfect. Using only distilled water will prolong the life of the ultrasonic mechanism, the surface of which can be rendered less effective by calcium and other deposits from tap water.
