Tools and Hardware Reviews of Swimming Jellyfish AquariumCustomer Review: Could be too early to tell Summary: 2 Stars
This gift for our eight year old son was not a ready out of the box adventure. The little jellyfish have yet to swim around, but it's possible we still need to wait for all the air bubbles to dissipate. The jury is out on this one. (It is much smaller than I anticipated though and did not look like the picture)
Customer Review: Did not work after 1 month. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this item as a gift for my dentist office. After 1 month, it failed to work. $40 just thrown away. Nice idea, but not if it doesn't work.
Customer Review: I agree.. beautiful but worked for only a short time: too loud Summary: 2 Stars
I'm here online because I was about to order another one of these (until I read the reviews) because my son got one for christmas and loved, loved, loved it. I felt so bad for him when the motor started getting VERY loud. I could not fix it. Since it was a gift, I didn't know who to call or go to... so I was about to order another one for him but I see a lot of other people have had the same problem. It's too bad.
Customer Review: It's gorgeous, but it's a gamble whether or not it will work right. Summary: 2 Stars
I've read reviews on here that say that the pump on this object is silent. It is far from it. It cycles on and off every few seconds, and when it turns on its extremely loud. I spoke to the manufacturer (not the seller) about this and they sent me a second one for no charge because of the first being SO LOUD. The second worked great for about three minutes, it was nice and quiet, then it started grinding and being very loud like the first. It's unfortunate because it is a very beautiful and calming sight watching the jellyfish swim around, but neither of the tanks I received worked right. They are far too loud to sleep next to and annoyingly loud in any environment that's quiet.
However I did get my jellyfish to cycle right, if you're wondering how to do that here's how I did it:
The product recommends that you use distilled water. I used municipal city water and there were lots of air bubbles in the container. I read another customers review so I soaked the jellyfish in a glass of water for about an hour and constantly poked them around to get the air bubbles off of them. I filled the tank, then put the jellies in. They eventually caught more air bubbles as the water in the container distiled. It took about six hours to finally get all the air bubbles out. I tapped the container a bit to get the air bubbles off the walls. I then turned it on, prodded the the jellyfish a little through the lid with a small instrument (to flip them over and get any remaining air bubbles from them) and sure enough they were swimming well. In fact it worked even better the following day as all the bubbles were completely gone. Too bad it grew louder every day until becoming unbearable.
It was such an awesome gift I'm just extremely disappointed that it's unbearably loud.
Customer Review: JELLY FISH AQUARIUM Summary: 4 Stars
I PURCHASED THIS ITEM, BECAUSE I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE VERY ENTERTAINING FOR MY KIDS. I'M GLAD I PURCHASED IT. I FOLLOWED CRISTOBALS EXTENSIVE DIRECTIONS AND IT WORKED ON THE FIRST TRY. YOU NEED TO SQUIRT ALOT OF DISHSOAP IN ORDER TO WORK. THE JELLYFISH LOOK SO COOL WITH THE MOOD LIGHTS GOING. VERY RELAXING, IN FACT I'M GOING TO PURCHASE TWO MORE. FOLLOW CRISTOBALS INSTRUCTIONS AND IT WILL WORK. I KNOW.
