I bought 6 of these to augment the emergency lighting in a theater. The night lite function helps day to day when the house lights are down and the emergency function gives us more light when there are power problems. They work so well and make so much sense that all 6 were stolen from the theater within the first week after they were installed!
I see them locally for $20. GE also markets the same device.
One down-side is they block the entire outlet but this can be avoided if you get a 6 outlet adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-6-Outlets-%252d-White/dp/B000FRV7KK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1232854055&sr=8-1).
In spite of their "legs" I'll be buying more of these in the future!
