Tools and Hardware Reviews of Symphony S-Hi-Cool Portable Swamp Cooler Features 200 Sq. Ft. Coverage Area

Customer Review: Effective but very loud
Summary: 3 Stars

Air N Water sent this to me, when a different unit didn't perform. I was eager to try it out. The water is poured through an odd slot in the front. You have to get on your knees to pour it in and see the gauge. If you over fill (which I did the first time because I didn't understand the gauge's readings), it pours out a tube in the back. eesh. I had to fix the little doohickys which oscillate the air as 2 had come out of their slots. No big deal. Turn them on and turn the unit on. WOOSH! Nice cool air comes out with quite a bit of force. I will say it is LOUD. Even on the lowest setting. I have it in my bedroom & found it somewhat hard to sleep with it on. I'm sure it is because it has quite a bit of force to it, but, it comes at a cost.

Customer Review: Fairly Loud
Summary: 2 Stars

We bought ours at a big box wholesaler in Dallas and I was surprised how loud it is in our small sunroom. It is noisier than our Samsung 6300 BTU window unit in a utility room. My wife could not hear me 10 feet away just outside the sunroom. Today it's 98 with 28% humidity; I'll follow up a internal temp report when I get home.

Customer Review: Great for the money if you can't use a window unit
Summary: 5 Stars

I wanted to put an evap cooler in our upstairs bedroom but the window where it would go was too narrow. I checked all the reviews and descriptions I could find on several different web sites and decided to go for this portable unit. It has large water capacity, easy to move, can use as a fan only, add ice for real cool air, easy to add water, is quiet enough we left it on one night while we slept. Fan force good, it really moves the air on "high". Haven't emptied it yet, we have had 100 degree weather so it has been on every day. The "humidity" controller basically just determines how much water flows over the filters. The unit does not cool the room like a window evap unit would, but I do recommend it to take the temperature down 15-20 degrees. I am very glad I purchased this product and if I needed another cooler I would get this one again. It actually isn't too bad to look at either.

Customer Review: Horrible waste of money
Summary: 1 Stars

This thing is a waste of money. The instructions are lacking a lot of information. It only blows luke warm air. Doesn't cool a room at all. Total waste of time and cash. You would be better off buying a standard fan for $30 at Walmart like we ended up doing. This thing is a joke. And the cost of shipping it back is around $70.

Customer Review: Not as quiet as I'd hoped, but a nice cooler
Summary: 4 Stars

Looks nice, good airflow, but despite reviews to the contrary, not as quiet as it is sleak. Happy with it overall.
