Tools and Hardware Reviews of Tanita HS301 White Solar Powered Electronic Bathroom ScaleCustomer Review: Very happy with this scale Summary: 5 Stars
This scale is simple to use and accurate. It doesn't have any fancy features but it works and doesn't need batteries. On other scales that I have owned, my weight would be different every time I got on it. On this scale, my weight remains consistent. It is exactly what I was looking for.
Customer Review: Worked for awhile, now fluctuates wildly Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this and it worked just fine for a couple of months. Now it fluctuates 6 to 10 pounds high to 6 to 10 pounds low, all within minutes. I will not buy a product like this from Amazon again, since there is no recourse after 30 days. Major bummer.
Customer Review: Works Best in Daylight Summary: 4 Stars
I find the scale to be very accurate. However, I can't get a reading with a 60-watt energy-efficient lightbulb. It does power up with a 100-watt energy-efficient bulb. I find it works best with unfiltered daylight. A mild nuisance, but worth it to protect the environment and save on the cost of batteries besides.
Customer Review: good basic scale Summary: 5 Stars
Tanita scales as a group are much more accurate and reliable than the competitors brands, however they make few basic digitals scales. I chose this one because I wanted a no frills scale made by Tanita, not because it is solar. However the solar power source works fine, taking maybe 15 seconds after the light is turned on in the room to power up. The scale is sturdy, not flimsy plastic. The weight reading on this scale matches the one at the doctor's office and at the gym. If I step on and off repeatedly, I never get a variation of more than 0.5 lb. I specifically chose this scale because it does not have a memory of your weight (I prefer to keep that info to myself). Of course, if you want the memory feature you should choose a different model.
Customer Review: good scale, crappy seller (DBROTH) Summary: 4 Stars
The Amazon provider of this scale, DBROTH, kind of sucks. Although I received the scale in a pretty timely manner, they literally just threw the scale in its existing packaging (just a cardboard box, no fitted styrofoam or anything) into a very large box, tossed a single deflated packing balloon thing, which may or may not have ever been inflated during its journey, slapped a shipping label on it and sent it on its way to me...literally, just that deflated piece of plastic -- not even newspaper or anything. I would hope for a little more caution for what came out to be a $75 purchase after shipping charges.
The scale itself is pretty good (we'll see how long it lasts after it's abusive shipping...). It only measures in full and half pound increments, which is fine, but I noticed it fluctuates a half pound at times, which is pretty considerable since I only weigh 103. Although it's not tall fancy and glass, it's simple, accurate and guilt-free since you won't be throwing its batteries into landfills
