Smaller than I thought it would be and that was good because I was a little worried about buying it because I thought it might be too bulky. It fits perfectly in the little pocket above the regular pocket on the right side of my jeans. The magnesium works great after you scrape it a few times to get the protective coating off of it. I love it. If anyone is wondering what the whistle sounds like, mine sounds just like a smoke detector alarm. Also, from the pictures it looked like it didn't have the magnesium scraper on the top back end of the knife on this model, well it does and that is how you strike the magnesium to make the spark.
