I was actually looking into purchasing another leaf vacuum that I saw on tv but when I read the reviews, I found that they had a plastic impeller instead of metal (which wasn't mentioned in the infomercial). Based on reviews of the Toro, which had the metal impeller and was $20 cheaper, I decided to purchase. It has worked extremely well, we already had a blower so we don't really use the blower on the Toro although it is more powerful than the one we have. The bag fills up quickly, as we have 5 huge maples on our corner lot but it sure saves money on reducing the number of lawn bags we buy, 4 bags of mulched leaves can fill up one lawn bag. That's amazing. Yes, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a leaf vaccuum. Very easy to handle, not too heavy or cumbersome. The impeller works well with small twigs but we are still careful not to get sticks caught up in it. Getting the lawn done takes half the time as one spouse uses the old leaf blower to pile up the leaves and the other spouse uses the vacuum to mulch up the pile of leaves. Most people already have a blower, as did I but I was sick of then having to pick up and discard. I got this and WOW! Keep your blower (as you have to change some parts to go back and forth on this one) AND WHEN YOU'VE GOT YOUR PILE JUST LET HER RIP! Everything is mulched down.Customer Review: A Superior Product

This is a fantastic product. I purchased this unit back in April/2008 for $70.00 on Amazon. What a unit. I cannot say one negative thing about it.I have a typical suburban yard(about 1/3 acre with a few trees dropping leaves in the fall).
In the spring and summer, as a blower this unit has no peer. Although it is corded, that is a very minor inconvenience compared to the sterling performance as a blower that this unit is capable of.
In the fall, as a vacuum and mulcher it is great! When used properly, almost never clogs and even if it does clog, it self clears after 10-20 seconds.
If you purchase this unit and use it according to instructions, you will do nothing but smile with regard to price, performance and reliability.

I was excited to receive the Toro Blower/Vac as I had been using my last model for close to 15 years. I am pleased with what the unit (I have only blown so far, not vacuumed so I cannot comment on the latter function). I bought it for the all metal impeller blade and the air power rating (200+ MPH)
The blower is a good size and weight and the continuously variable power switch makes it easy to adjust the airspeed. At first I thought the power was no better than my last one, but it is more powerful and a little quieter.
The only two comments that make it not a 5 are (a) there is not place to lock the extension cord to the unit so it doesnt pull off the plug (or maybe I have not discovered it yet) and; (b) connecting the blower pipe extension requires that you unsnap another piece that is used to lock it in. It's just a little different from my last. All in all, except for these two design points, I am very happy.
