We bought this model a little over a year ago. However, it has been some months since the sensor worked properly. We had trouble with the manual close button on the sensor. After about 6 mos. it quit. The manual open sensor was next to go. The trashcan did open with the sensor, but if I had a bit of trash to put in there I needed to turn the can off and open the lid. When I finished I had to turn the can back on. Now the sensor and motor are not working. I think with the amount of money you pay for this it should work for more than a year. Also, I have searched their website and they do not offer a replacement lid for this model. I am very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it to anyone.Customer Review: Didn't last

This is a great and idea and a great product. When I purchased it, I saved the box thinking that I probably wouldn't like it. Now, I wouldn't dream of parting with this trash can! It is the easiest to use. Get some D batteries and you are all set. I especailly love the on and off button, so you can conserve battery life. There are also open and close buttons that allow you to override the sensor (these are powered too, so don't think you can ever use this product witout batteries.) I have zero complaints about this trash can!
Update 1/7/07: This is now availabe at warehouse clubs and is a lot cheaper!

This gadget makes trash fun. It does! I long to toss something so I can play with it. Perhaps I have no life.
It's only been three weeks but I've had no issues with it. I do wish it was a bit taller but, other than that, I give it a four star review.

I love this trash can! Its rectangular design fits well into a niche in my kitchen, and its large capacity keeps me from having to empty it every time I turn around. The design for keeping the liner-bag secure is easy to use and works well. Not having to open the lid whenever one needs to put trash into the receptacle is much neater and easier. I can find NOTHING to dislike about this product! Shipping-time was also great!
