Customer Review: Great Touchless Trashcan - stick with the original

I bought the Original Touchless Stainless Steel Trashcan (13 gallon), and it was wonderful. The touchless feature is great, and the plastic ring that holds the bag in place worked fabulously. The shape and finish were also nice.
So, when I decided I needed a smaller one for recyclables (13 gallons is too heavy for lots of glass and paper), I wanted another iTouchless, and decided on the "newer" version, and purchased the 8 gallon NX version.iTouchless Fully Automatic Stainless Steel Touchless Trashcan NX, 11 Gallon (42 Liter)
However, the newer version is not as nice. The sensor may be better, but the circular base takes up quite a bit more space, and the wire ring used to hold the bag in place doesn't work nearly as well.
So, if you are going to get a touchless trash can, go with the original one. You can tell the difference because the original has more of a rectangular footprint.

I had doubts about the capacity and functionality of this product but in practice it has been really great. It holds a full 13 gallon bag's worth of trash and my concern about it opening and closing all the time when walking by have not been a problem. Evidently the infrared range is fairly close (a couple of inches). Also, there is no difficulty in changing bags as I had seen as another reviewer's complaint. My wife loves not getting her hands or the trash can dirty by touching it.Customer Review: Happy with my garbage can!

I am thrilled with my wastebasket - no more touching a nasty top, no more taking the cover off to accomodate larger objects ( it will take a gallon milk jug) and no more lids kicking back to throw my garbage all over the floor. I MUST ADMIT I WAS SKEPTICAL ABOUT A "HANDS FREE " TRASH CAN AND EVEN CONSIDERED IT A NOVELTY BEFORE I OWNED IT, BUT AFTER USING IT FOR OVER A YEAR THIS IS ONE OUR THE BEST PRODUCTS THAT I HAVE PURCHASED THRU AMAZON. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL ....THIS TRASH CAN IS NOT A NOVELTY PRODUCT THAT YOU USE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THROW AWAY.
I FIRST PURCHASED THIS {OVER A YR AGO} I HAVE SINCE BOUGHT 4 MORE FOR BATH ROOMS,BASEMENT KITCHEN, ETC.
I AM VERY PLEASED AND SUGGEST ANYONE LOOKING AT THIS TRASH CAN SHOULD BUY IT.
BTW...BATTERIES LAST OVER A YR W/ CONSTANT USAGE, LOOKS GREAT, WORKS WELL W/ ALL 13 GALLON TRASH BAGS.
