Seriously, this requires some work and ventilation!
If you are patient and follow the directions, success will follow. The result is very good, and I agree that the more rust removed the more long lasting the repair. I used a rat tail file to remove most of the rust. Do wear latex gloves, it is drippy. They forgot to include the gloves, and they are needed. I have a 11 yo. Kitchenaid with a stainless interior. The racks are vinyl, and replacements run over $125 ea!
Update: After months, the repair held up, good product.

To save the cost of replacing with a new dishwasher, this product works magically on the rack. Since it is volatilizable, you need little skill to do the touch-up in short time otherwise the bottle neck will be quickly blocked. Besides, 40 caps are not enough for rack, you'd better count them before purchase.

My dishwasher racks look like new. Didn't take long to use the repair product (kinda like applying fingernail polish). Putting a drop of vinyl repair in each cap like directions said went fast after a couple. They will never come off rack during wash cycle. You may want to wear a rubber glove on hand sqeezing cap (as you put a drop in it & let go & it 'sucks' drop of vinyl repair into cap). That was a little messy on fingers. I'm happy with product. Saved me alot of money instead of replacing racks.
