The epoxy white paint did the job of covering up the rusted exposed metal that improved the look and stopped the onset of rusting. The 40 caps were inserted over the repairs. I inserted the caps over other tines that looked as though they may be worn. I bought two kits installing all the caps. The touchup paint is epoxy and does goop up and requires having a paper towel at the ready to wipe off the brush after it is used to remove the goops off the top of the jar. If you have a dishwasher that's slowly rotting away but cannot afford a new one at this point in time, try this stuff. It comes in a little "White-Out" bottle. It looks like white-out. And you use it like white-out. It's white out's little brother, Uber.
The only downside for me, is that if you have massive rotting like my dishwasher and filing down is a task. The caps are too small to fit over the thick bulges. But to compensate for the non-caps I just put more coats of Uber on.

A couple of days after I applies the nice white caps to my diswasher I noticed a strange noise coming from my dishwasher. I got suspicious and started counting the white caps that I had applied. There were less than 10! They were all flushed down into the works of the dishwasher as food would be. It is about two weeks now and my dishwasher is still making noises. One time I opened my dishwasher to empty it and there was water still in the bottom. I had to put it on again to empty the water. I still do not know the fate of my dishwasher and even though I have it on a repair plan, if they take it apart and find all those caps that I applied, I don't know if it would be covered. The Uber Goop was probably a better option but I noticed that it got very thick and difficult to apply in a very short period of time. Over all it was not a good experience and I still may have a repair to my dishwasher in my future.Customer Review: Useful and wonderful product

This is exactly what I needed and it worked great. However, I found the directions for applying it were not very good. I simply applied the product my own way and it was much easier and worked fine. I re-ordered to keep some on hand and will tell my friends about it.

I have fixed up my lower dishwasher rack with this product, and have been very pleased with the results. The only caveat is the bottle of goop - it starts curing once opened, and I would highly recommend having everything ready to go when you actually make the repair, such as using a Dremel-tool to knock back rust on other parts of the rack besides the tips. The plastic caps all fit very tightly, and as far as I can tell, none have come loose.
Once I replaced the tips, I went back and brushed the liquid vinyl on all the spots on the rack that had rust. The vinyl starts setting up fairly quickly, and I was able to go back and put a second coat on those spots.
This may not extend the life of your dishwasher rack indefinitely, but it will give you several extra years of life when the rest of the dishwasher still works fine.
