I have read reviews of the larger Venta models and decided to purchase one. However, this smaller model was sufficient for the room I placed it in.
Yes, the Venta products are a wee bit pricey. However, if it lasts only half of the 10-year warranty, it will be well worth the price. I have, in the past, purchase lesser-priced products of this type and they did not last.
I like the Venta LW14-- it does its job well, as both an air purifier and humidifier.
It is fairly quiet; the only annoyance is the slight sound of the plastic gear that moves the wheel around in the unit's water tank. (Hence, I gave the product only 4 stars, instead of 5). So, if you place it in a bedroom-- the noise might bother some people who are light sleepers.
The product does not have a water level indicator; therefore, you should periodically check the water level-- I check at least once each day.
I plan to purchase a second unit, to place in my study.

I finally had to just put in a few comments on the Venta Airwasher, which I have owned for about 5 years or so. It was a product I really wanted to like - a humidifier and air cleaner all in one. And I was/am willing to pay a little more for a high quality product. But first and foremost, it does not humidify well, if that is what you're looking for. In the winter, I wake up with a really dry throat & Venta did nothing to alleviate it, while a traditional humidifier would. The other issue with the Venta is, despite its claims to be maintenance-free, it's actually really hard to clean. We had to use a brush to clean the white cental component, but could only clean the surface, never the inside. It sells a cleaner that you can use every 6 months or so, but it's definitely not enough. And we used it to its specifications (adding the blue solution to the water once a week, plus cleaning once a week). Despite all of that, I used it for several years, thinking it must be doing some good, since it's an airwasher. Finally, I had to discontinue use because there would be slimy specks and sheets floating in the water that would be coming out of the middle, even though we cleaned it religiously on a weekly basis. If they can redesign the cental component where you can break it apart & clean it, it would make a world of difference. However, this product the way it is, is extremely difficult to clean & maintain. In addition, there is also no way to really check if the air has really been cleaned. So beware: very difficult to maintain, doesn't humidify well, & does it really clean air??Customer Review: Works great!

This is a great device! air cleaner and humidifier in one. This has cut down on the dust and carpet dust in my home, I am only sad that there is no longer a US vendor to supply this as I would like to purchase another one.Customer Review: love it

Last year I started out with one for my bedroom. I always had dry chapped hands and would wake up every morning with a stuffed nose and sore throat from the heat. I couldn't believe the difference this machine made without out so much effort and those disgusting filters the other humidifiers use. I loved it so much I bought one for my daughter's bedroom becuase she also wakes up stuffy and with horrible chapped lips. It also helped her. I am now, this year, buying one for my son's room. I love them that much. I purchased and threw away so many cheaper humidifiers that were so bothersome to clean and didn't work as well. I feel these are worth the money.
