I bought this for my mother. She complains about everything....but I have heard no complaints about this lantern/flashlight. That says alot. It was very affordable, has nifty features and is easy to recharge. It also operates using a more standard bulb for the main light. I like this because it's something you can get off the shelf. It has a more concentrated beam you can use made of LED bulbs. These last quite a while so I'm not concerned about having to replace them. This light will pay for itself shortly in money saved from buying D cell batteries. All-in-all this is an awesome little gadget to have. I'd most definitely recommend it. It was a little difficult to get out of the packaging...but most electronics are...that's when scissors come in awfully handy.Customer Review: Rechargeable lantern

I don't particularly care for the charging procedure. You have to plug an extension cord into the back of the lantern. Another feature I don't particularly like is the way you lock the light on -- so the beam shines the full time. It basically takes two hands to turn the lantern on and to keep it on-- one to hold the button the other to push the little button in the lock position.
I think it will last a good while. It is heavy duty. The weight is pretty heavy too-- I wouldn't want to take it on a backpacking trip.
All in all I think it was a descent purchase-- only time will tell.

After about year I could only get about 40 minutes run time out of the flashlight. It died when I needed it most!
I felt as though it was always switching to charge mode to bring the battery up to capacity. Took forever to charge in the car, so I'd bring it in and charge it through the AC if I drained it down completely. Replaced with a streamlight product.

I purchased a rechargeable flashlight from Amazon.com and have been very pleased with it. It really throws off a lot of light It has an area light that never needs replacing. It is much more powerful than regular flashlight lanterns. It has an adjustable rubber grip. It is weather resistant, tough and durable. It includes a charging cord for vehicle use. It would come in very handy in apower outtage. I have had large flashlights before but never one this powerful, durable or easily carried from place to place. This is a very nice light for the price. Although it is too heavy for long distance hiking, it is more than good enough for car camping.
This light is also good enough for interior construction work and low stress emergency use. I would not use this light for professional rescue or adventuring, but it is solid enough and handy enough to really help out in "less than movie" conditions.
The AC recharger does require a dedicated light extension cord, but avoiding another wall wart charger is well worth $1.99. The AC charger also is smart enough to stop charging and indicates when it is charged, which is much better than 99% of the wall warts out there. The DC charger is fused, another unexpected but welcome feature in a light at this price range.
The base is solid and heavy enough to keep the light up in a variety of conditions. The adjustable angle main beam works and could come in really handy in a power outage.
I will be buying more.
