This is the best humidifier we've had so far. We've been looking for one that isn't a fan and loud. This one is basically silent. I don't know about the accuracy of the humidity meter as others have commented, but it's easy to use and very quiet. It is awkward to fill and can get heavy. Would be nice if you can fill it from the top. Only other issue for us is that condensation builds on the ceiling of the water tank and therefore you can hear the water dripping back down. Not a problem if you're already asleep, but can be a little annoying if you're trying to fall asleep. Also, the white cap on top is loose so our cat likes to get on top of the machine and flip the thing about at all hours of the night. We had to tape it down. That's not a real reflection of the product - just that we have a weird cat I guess. Would highly recommend.Customer Review: Better than expected

Sometimes, reading reviews on Amazon can make you a little nuts. Every product has a few unfavorable reviews, and it can make you hesitant to buy. I'm glad I went ahead with this purchase.
The Venta is of high quality construction, works well, and is easy to maintain. On the high setting, it pumps out an impressive cloud of vapor, but is whisper quiet. Controls are easy to understand. The humidistat seems to control well, but only goes in 5% increments. I don't see this as a problem, though - I challenge anyone to tell the difference between 35% and 38% RH just by "feel".
As one reviewer noted, when you first plug it in, the display flashes at you, and the unit doesn't do anything. This isn't mentioned in the manual, and looks like a malfunction. However, 10 minutes later and all is well. It only does this when unplugged for an extended period.

After reading reviews on Amazon.com, I ordered this product from a company called Today's Concept. Four days later I received an e-mail informing me that Today's Concept had experienced a delay in receiving my order, there was a delay in receiving the product from the manufacturer, and they would inform me when shipment would occur. Alternatively,I could phone their Customer Service dept. for shipment info. I phoned, was placed on hold for over 10 minutes before finally being attended. I provided my order number and was informed that the product had shipped two day's prior and that delivery could be expected on 11/20, within about 10-12 days of ordering (which would have been acceptable). Today I received a mysterious e-mail from Amazon.com that my order had been CANCELLED--no reason provided!?!? I am a loyal Amazon.com customer and assume the re-seller, Today's Concept, is responsible for the miscommunication/misunderstanding. I recommend ordering products ONLY direct from Amazon.com. We have had this humidifier for two years now.
Pros:
It's lasted us for two years
It says that it has warm mist but it's not really that warm - more like room temperature mist but at least, that's better than cold mist
Easy to use
Cons:
I wish that it would just shut off instead of blinking when the water is done
It's a pain to fill up - you have to flip it over and unscrew the cap. The only way to fill it is through the bathtub
It's also a pain to clean - we find ourselves cleaning it at least once a week now
It's not exactly cheap either

I bought my VS207 refurbished (elsewhere) and was quite impressed. I'd read the reviews about the humidistat being inaccurate, but especially for the refub price I decided to try it. I'm glad I did!
Yes, the humidity reading is off, but I also bought a Western Caliber III hunmidity/temp meter (about $15) to compare it to (then use later in my crawlspace where dampness is an issue) and found that the humidifier's humidity reading is off by 10%....whether the current humidity is low or high, it remains off by the same amount, therefore the guage is perfectly usable to me since I just add 10 to whatever it says. (Plus, what really matters is that you can set it to whatever is comfortable, regardless of what the number says, and it will maintain that level.)
Actually, I liked it so much that I just bought another unit since we have another baby on the way, and that unit's humidity display is dead-on accurate, so it seems like it's probably just a lack of proper factory calibration that makes it vary so much from unit to unit.
Vapor output is very good, and so quiet that I have to look for the vapor to believe it is actually running. I use it at the medium setting so the level in the room stays more constant and there is less cycling on/off. (High seems to raise it too quickly and causes it to cycle on/off more, but also, I have it in a fairly small bedroom.)
The "warm" setting is almost a joke (barely noticable if you feel the vapor coming out), but I did try it one evening and it did seem like the moister didn't make the room feel as cool as it would have otherwise. I'll probably rarely use the warm setting except maybe on very chilly nights.
I love the large tank. I don't have a problem with the handle position, but I can see how some people might....but if it's too awkward/heavy for you, just fill it less so it is lighter and easier to flip back over.
