Do not believe any of these reviews, i bought this for my neighbors shelty, i could tell that the dog could hear it because she would look at it when it went off, but that was it it did not stop her at all, in fact when she was done barking she laid down directly in front of this and went to sleep. First purchased Doggie Dazer: I had been making great progress in cutting off barking and getting dogs to stop on my verbal command (three pit bulls who live in the empty lot next door -- not mean, but not particularly smart either). Since the owners never had the presence of mind to train the dogs to be quiet, they will probably never realize I am using these two devices. Doggie Dazer requires vigilance and effort on my part. Now Super Bark Stop has automated that function for me. I put it in an open window facing their yard. Once in a while it will make them bark for a short while as they discover through repetition, yet again, that if they bark they will experience unpleasantness. It has cut down on barking and all times and particularly first thing in the morning when the dogs start up it reminds them again not to bark and they quiet right down -- almost as if to say, "Oh, yeah, overnight I forgot I'm not supposed to bark."
As several others have commented, it should be sold with a power cord.
I heartily recommend. I also suggest you refrain from using it once in a while so the animals do not become so accustomed they no longer react to it. (This is an assumption on my part since I've had the Bark Stop for only a few weeks.)

I think it is working when it is in the house for our little yipper, Shih Tzu, but it seems that the GREAT DANE IS SO LOUD SHE DOESN'T hear it. It has helped some though, our neighbor should be happy. There is a cheap plastic backing that peeled off, luckily I found it as it labels all the little buttons in the control box. Without it we wouldn't know what any of the buttons were for- poor design that the label can peel off so easily.Customer Review: Hit or Miss

I purchases 2 of these, one for the front and back yards. It worked great when my old neighbors left their pitbull out all night. After about a week he figured it out and stopped. They moved out and a new dog moved next door and ignores the device completely. This dog has a very high pitched bark that borders on a squeak and I don't think the microphone picks up the frequency, that or this dog doesn't mind the noise. I even put both devices in the same yard and there is no difference in this dog's barking. I recommend this for bigger dogs with a deeper bark but not for those really annoying high pitched barkers.
