I've had this product for about 7 years and it just died on me (it was hout in the rain and freezing weather for all 7 year) and I just purchased another. 7 years ago I moved into a townhouse where many neighbors had undisciplined barking dogs. The houses are close together and it was keeping my family from sleeping.
At first the bark stop did not seem to be working. I set it on silent mode, cranked the volume to high, lowered the sensitivity to zero, and set it to go off after a single bark. My neighbors yappy dog went insane. It barked and barked and barked. The large pit bulls up the street caught on faster they stopped barking almost immediately and then only bark occasionally as if to say, "Hey, little dog, stop. Don't you get it?"
When I listened carefully to the bark stop I realized it was clicking quietly when it went on and I realized when the little yappy dog freaked out, it never went off. Other dogs were whining in pain and the littel dog just didn't get it.
I turned the sensitivity down to about half, and the I turned the number of barks before activation to 3, the most. The little dog now had to start barking for a few seconds before it activated, it took a few days but the little dog finally got it.
A buddy of mine got one when he saw it and realized the dogs next door did not bark. His did not work at first because he, being an annoyed human, did what I did and cranked the settings up. When I explained what I had realized, he changed the settings, and it started to work for him.

Bought this item thinking I pay a little more and get something that works..Not. The only way an audible sound is heard or not heard, is to hold down the test button yourself, otherwise when the dog next door barks, only 20 feet away, no response from this device. I called the company to as kwhat the deal was and they just blew me off. like it was operator error, Please. Save your money. I found the hand held ones work good but you have activate it yourself.Customer Review: Kinda works

I purchased the Super Bark Stop about a month ago and it has produced mixed results. I have been satisfied with the product concerning the labrador dog next door. It has completely worked with this type of dog and she doesn't bark at all now. However, the bassett hound is not affected by the product. If anything, the Bark Stop causes this dog to bark more as it interprets the sound as an intruder rather than a deterrent. Therefore, I am pleased with the results, but also disappointed.Customer Review: M.Paige

The unit appeared to work in silent mode initially. However, either the neighbor's dog got used to it or it never really worked. In audible mode, however, the unit worked wonderfully. Not only did the neighbor's dog stop, but also went away from the area. Of course, the dog's owners may not appreciate you using the unit on their pet. But if they are inconsiderate neighbors to start with, then this will work.
