Customer Review: Heats well and distributes it evenly

Pros:
- Works really well in heating up our living room quickly and quietly. (We tried the Holmes quartz tower heater (HQH307) but that only heated the air right in front of the machine and was super loud.)
- Housing stays cool.
Cons:
- I have small hands (about 6" long), but the indentation in the back where you are supposed to hold the top is even hard for me to insert my fingers into. Granted, you are also supposed to use your other hand to hold onto the other side at the base, but I would prefer a deeper top handle. I also encountered the same issue with the Holmes.
- The remote is small, symmetrical and not ergonomic. Just by feel, it's not easy to tell which end you're pointing at the heater.
- Each time you adjust the heater (manually or by remote), it makes a really loud beeping noise which scares our pets.
Update:
- I have to agree with the other reviewers that the blue LCD display is too bright. It emits a bright, large swathe of light. I didn't think this would be an issue, but the amount emitted is really impressive.
- Also, I set the timer to go off during the night and the beep was so loud that it woke me up. I really wish we could adjust the volume.
- The second time we turned it on, the heater started turning the timer setting on and off by itself as if a poltergeist had taken possession of it, all the while beeping repetitively. We unplugged the heater and plugged it back in. It did it again. After the 4th or 5th try, the heater finally settled down and we haven't had the problem again. I'm not sure what caused this.
- It still heats great.

Update - 2 months after bought it - it broke, the fan intermittently stops running & the heat stays on so it starts burning itself up, it filled the room with strong burning smell/smoke. NOT safe.Customer Review: IT"S JUNK !!!

Perhaps I got a bad unit but perhaps I got the best one ever made of this model.
In any case, when we first got it, the heater kept turning off apparently because the heating element was making the thermostat in the heater think it was warmer in the room than it was. it was 50 - 55 in the room and the heater would show 70.
If it got running a while it seemed to get over that problem for the most part but then the heat coming out was no where near enough to even begin warming the room. The room was about 10 - 15 feet. We had an old electric fan heater and it put out far more warm air than this unit.
We ran it for several hours and the room went from 52 to 55 degrees while it was about 35 degrees outside.
Maybe this heater is good for small rooms once they are warm but not the heater I was looking for. We sent it back.

I must agree with other reviewers that say these break quickly. I have owned 3 of them and none of them worked for even one year. I threw the first one out and returned the other two to be repaired by the company because I still had my receipt and they were under warranty. They work well when they work, but they are too expensive to only work for a short time. I had one break after 5 months. I wrote the date on it so I knew how long it took to break. I will never purchase a Vornado heater again.
