I PURCHASED THIS HEATER AFTER READING VARIOUS REVIEWS AND PRODUCT INFO ON HEATER THAT WOULD AMPLY HEAT A LARGE ROOM. I CHOSE THIS ONE BECAUSE:
SIZE IS SMALL AND WILL STORE EASILY BEHIND MY CATICORNER LINGERIE CHEST
THE HEAT OUTPUT WILL HEAT MY 15'X 22' BEDROOM
THE SETTINGS WERE EASY TO USE
STABILITY; WIDE BASE
THIS HEATER HAS PREFORMED BETTER THAN I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED FOR ME DURING
OUR LONG COLD SPELL AND I CAN EASILY KICK SLIDE IT INTO MY FRIGID BATHROOM FOR A FEW
MINUTES TO TAKE THE WORST OF THE CHILL OUT BEFORE USE.
THE PRICE WAS HIGHER THAN THE OTHER UNITS I CHECKED OUT BUT HAS BEEN WORTH EVERY CENT

I just received, and scheduled a return for this heater. Right out of the box it doesn't get above 80 degrees heat output (checked with an HVAC thermometer.) In comparison, I tested an old Lakewood heater, model 792/jr (http://www.amazon.com/Lakewood-792-JR-Forced-Utility/dp/B000BWNPRW) and the Lakewood easily reached 151 degrees heat output. The Vornado is a bit quieter than the Lakewood, but that's the only up-side.
Oh, and I agree with the postings about the Vornado fan; I've had mine for 5+ years, and it's still going strong!

We live in a NYC loft, an unheated warehouse. The back end has a big wall-mounted Modine heater, which does not warm our 10x20' bedroom on the front end, and in any case, we turn the Modine off at night. We also have an old 5x8' bedroom window which is drafty despite plastic over it. Typically winter-night temperatures in the bedroom go to the mid-50s and below. Other space heaters did little. We thought the "full-room heater" label was hyperbole, or maybe applied to a bathroom, but--This! Vornado! Heats! Our! Bedroom! Comfortably!, despite our 12' ceilings. We did, of course, close an interior window that gives onto the main room, and we still sleep beneath a down comforter. But quite literally, this heater has met the big-time challenges of our bedroom--high ceilings, drafty window, no central heat--and after nearly two months, we're still astonished. It does what no other space heater could. We love it.Customer Review: An okay heater

The heaters best feature is that it is relatively quiet. It will heat a smaller room, but anything larger than about 10'x12'or with a higher than 8' ceiling it is not up to the task. This is the best space heater I've ever owned. We use it in or bedroom at night. Our room has vaulted ceilings, so with other heaters the heat would typically rise and not keep the whole room warm. With this heater the whole room is evenly heated and the heater is super quiet! (My laptop makes more noise - when heater is on low setting, which is all we've needed.) The room also heats up quickly once we turn it on.
The only small drawback I can think of, is that space heaters I've used in the past usually shut off after the room is heated to the desired temperature, but this one keeps running for as long as you have it turned on. The heat portion of it will turn off but the fan will continue to circulate the air until the heat is needed again. I'm sure this can be an advantage to keep the heat distributed throughout the room - but the only drawback is that it may take a bit more electricity to keep it constantly running. (Although, I hear it's actually more energy efficient than most space heaters, so maybe that's not an issue at all.)
Overall, this heater is amazing.
