Just got this. My big problem is that this actually doesn't turn off if tipped over like I think every other heater on the market does. I guess the heat turns off but the fan remains going? That really doesn't seem safe. It looks like the one above this: Vornado EH1-0028-06 DVH Digital Vortex Heater does in fact turn off- so I may pay the extra $4 for that.
This seems to work pretty well otherwise. It is quieter than most- although it stays on all night and the fan simply slows down if it gets too hot. I guess that's actually good for circulating the air and heat- but I'm wondering which takes up more power: Running all night between high and low. Or a different heater on high shutting itself down and starting back up again.

Purchased this for my basement. In a 50x50 room it did not increase the temperature after several hours by even 1 degree. My clock gives me the indoor and outdoor temperature and yes I even tried moving it.
This week I had a slight water leak in my basement. I placed this heater on the maximum settings next to the water on the carpet for several hours. No change!
I also have a regular Vornado fan and it's already broken since it's made out of cheap plastic. It barely moves the air and doesn't help at all.
Vornado products are way overpriced.
Believe it or not I went and purchased a cheap metal heater for fifteen dollars and it's way better. I feel MUCH safer with it on as well.
I'm glad it works so well for many. It just doesn't for me. Save your receipt just in case!

I bought two of these two years ago - Nov of 2008. When they work, they do a great job without using a lot of electricity.
The first one stopped working after the first year. Just pulled out the remaining one and plugged it in, it does not work. So we got two years from it.
Since this is basically a $100.00 heating unit, think it should last longer than this.
We used these to supplement central heat, not in place of. As we are in GA, only gets cold about 4 months of the year. It is a big disappointment that the units will not hold up to even this moderate use.

I am pleased with the Vornado full-room heater. It does heat the room as described. I am using it in my living room
which is actually an open space to the sun room and this heater is covering a good amount of space. I bought it so that I don't have to turn up the thermostat on the propane heating system which costs a rediculous amount of money. Thus, I am saving money with this heater. It is silent, safe and radiates warmth throughout the room. I would certainly recommend this product. I own 2 smaller Vornados and I am equally pleased with them.
