I BOUGHT THE EDGER TRIMMER ON APRIL 25TH 2009. THIS IS IT'S SECOND SEASON AND ALREADY TWO BATTERYS HAVE GONE BAD. SO I BOUGHT ONE NEW BATTERY FROM THEM TWO MONTHS AGO AND 12 SPOOLS OF CUTTING WIRE.TWO DAYS AGO IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER.NOW I'M STUCK WITH A NEW BATTERY AND TWELVE SPOOLS OF WIRE THAT IS OF NO USE TO ME.I CANNOT HONESTLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE OUT OF THE 15 MONTHS OR SO THAT I HAVE HAD IT I ONLY GOT TO USE IT ABOUT 35 TIMES. MY PROPERTY IS NOT THAT BIG AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS SHODDY CONSTRUCTION AND VERY LITTLE WARRANTY TO BACK IT UP. This is a great product base on how you use it. For a small job of maintaining trimming and edging I give it a 5 stars.
It is not strong enough to edge for the first time - in spring for example. It is too weak and slow for that purpose. I have an electric trimmer that I use for that purpose. For follow up and maintainace , it is light, very portable and easy to use. Great for follow up and maintainance trimming.

This worked just like advertised. I had a steep hillside (about 30 degree grade) on which I needed to cut weed grasses . I tried a gasoline trimmer which acted real agressive but was only good at breaking the string. This machine was quiet, light weight and easy to use, and overall did more of the job in less time - not because it was more powerful, but because it didn't keep breaking the weed string and stalling. If you have a large (numerous acres - I only have about an acre on this property) and it is flat and smooth, the gasoline trimmer would probably be your choice. For a smaller yard, or rough uneven or difficult areas like I have this is your product! (By the way I presently have 6 broken gasoline trimmers in my "junk" pile - I have the idea that this will be reliable.)
