I never did get to install this unit. I received the shipment and in checking the parts discovered that the sink flange and its supporting ring could not be separated. They should have been screwed together "hand tight" for shipment but were frozen together. I put some WD-40 on the threads and used a pair of channel lock pliers with no success. They wouldn't budge. I can only guess that some jokester at the factory put some super glue on the threads to have a little fun. I put in a call to Waste King support and got a recording stating they would return my call. They never responded which compounded my frustration. Amazon offered to replace the unit but I've been without a disposal now for two weeks, so I returned it for refund and bought a replacement at Lowes which is what I should have done in the first place.
Overall, it doesn't justify two stars but I'm just a nice guy.

When my 10 year old Waste King finally died, I decided to replace it with the exact same model. Given the price and the 10 years of trouble-free service, I could not justify buying a more expensive model. Found the best price on Amazon and received the disposer in less than a week. An added bonus was the easy installation. All the connections were in the right place so I didn't have to modify anything. Can't beat this disposer for the price.Customer Review: Better than expected

I replaced my old In-Sink-Erator (Badger 1 Model) with the Water King L-1001. My Badger 1 was very old and still worked fine until the top rotted through. The motor was still working fine. I was hunting the internet for the best price (with shipping) for another Badger 1. What the heck, it had a good long life. I stumbled across two different Garbage Disposal review sites. Am I glad I did !!! This site and LOWEs review site shot the Badger 1 and the Badger 5 down....I MEAN BADLY !!!.....
Anyway, this site and the LOWEs site recommended buying the Anaheim 3101 Adapter Kit if I had a 3 bolt mounting system which is what In-Sink-Erator uses. Well I did have the 3 bolt mount, but I ripped all of that out (with the old disposal) and used the new EZ Mount system that came with the new Waste King L-1001.
I'm not sure why everyone is pushing the adapter kit. Everything you need comes with the L-1001. It's installed, it lined up exactly the same as the old disposal, and works fine without having to buy anything extra.

My husband was sceptical when I told him I had ordered this disposer because of its low price. We were replacing a 1/2 horsepower GE that cost more than twice as much. Well, I had researched this model on this site and the overall consensus of reviewers is absolutely true. He installed it in less than 30 minutes and it is compact(more room under the sink), quiet, and works really well. With an excellent warranty what more can anyone ask? Its a disposal "gem" and a real bargain in our estimation.Customer Review: Disposal replacement

Late on Thanksgiving day after having our family including children,grand children & Great Grand Children (15 people in all)
Our garbage disposal gave up.
Later that evening I looked for a new one and found the Waste King L-1001 that had the EZ hookup and all the
other connections that I would need when installing it.
It is much more quite than the one I replaced and has plenty of strenght to do the job. It was shipped very
quickly and arrived before I had time to install it.
I installed it on 12/02/10 in about 1.5 Hours, years ago this would have been a one hour job from start to the
finish of clean up. (I'm in my early 80's)
