Tools and Hardware Reviews of Waste King L-8000 Legend Series 1.0-Horsepower Continuous Feed Waste DisposerCustomer Review: Easy Install Summary: 5 Stars
By far the easiest install of a garbage disposal I've done. I like that you just have a rubber gasket and don't have to mess with plumbers putty.
Customer Review: Easy Install Summary: 5 Stars
The Waste King 8000 replaced our old leaking Badger disposal.
The switch over to the new unit was simple. In less than 45 minutes the old unit was in the garbage and the Waste King was up and running. All needed parts were included.
The Waste King 8000 has power to spare and runs very quiet
I defiantly recommend this unit
Customer Review: Easy install and great operation Summary: 5 Stars
I had my old Badger unit removed and this unit installed in under an hour. That included lowering the T from my double sink since this unit is about 1/4 inch lower than the Badger. You can't beat the lifetime warranty and I verified that Waste King Direct (Cantex Trading) is an authorized retailer. It's not super quiet, but it beats the Badger.
Customer Review: Easy install. Great deal. Summary: 5 Stars
I received the Waste King disposal in just 2 days. Extemely quick ship.
The directions were clear and easy to follow.
I didn't order the adapter ring kit. The old ring popped out easily, allowing for the new EZ system to be installed with plumbers putty.
The disposal is quieter than the Badger I used to have and appears better made in every way.
Customer Review: Easy to Install - Hard Wiring Instructions Summary: 5 Stars
Installation of the Legend 8000 is very simple. You do not need to purchase an adapter kit just take the old stuff out and put in what comes with disposer. I had a 3 bolt system attached to stainless steel sink. Removing it took 15 minutes but only because I had trouble figuring out how to remove a metal o-ring that was snapped in to hold up the old unit (butter knife did the trick). I could do it again in 5 minutes.
The unit comes with a plug, so you can plug it into grounded outlet. My old unit was hard wired to a switch so I did the same with this unit. I had no desire to try to install a electrical outlet in the back of my cabinet. Hardwiring the unit isn't described that well in documentation. Here are a few tips that may help..You will need 1 romex gang box adaptor ring (its the metal nut that you put into metal electric box punch outs that have a lock down to hold wire in place. You can find them in any hardware store).
1. Remove bottom plate
2. Cut black and white wires and unscrew ground
3. Plug wire comes through a rubber grommet. Use screw driver and gently work the grommet out backside of disposer.
4. Put romex adapter into the hole grommet came out of, run romex through and tighten down the adapter so romex can't be pulled out.
5. Strip back wires then attach black to black and white to white with wire nuts and attach ground to ground screw.
6. Tuck everything in and replace bottom plate.
Rest of installation took less then 30 minutes and was very easy.
