Tools and Hardware Reviews of Watts EDP0004640 IntelliFlow Automatic Washing Machine Shut Off ValveCustomer Review: Please do not buy this! Summary: 1 Stars
Under no circumstances buy this it is an utter nightmare. It trips often and stops your washing machine from working and requires frequent re-calibration. Worst of all the fittings are unique to this unit so you can not swap it out for new valves.
Customer Review: Poor Design Summary: 1 Stars
This device is designed to sense electric demand from the washer and then open the water valves.
It also is designed to close the valves if it detects water gathering on the floor below.
It requires the removal of any existing shut off valves and soldering two brass o-ring connections on very precise centers.
I attempted to install it on a Maytag stacking washer dryer with integrated electronics (the washer power runs through the dryer and a common control panel)
My conclusion is the device is poorly designed and unnecessarily complicated. I would advise anyone against buying it.
It is not compatible with existing manual hose valves and requires that in line valves be installed.
Connecting piping must be installed very accurately to correspond with the device centers.
I assume that it will only read the current flow from specific simply circuited washers - making it unusable in many situations.
I could not make it work and I am extremely familiar with plumbing and electrical systems.
After this I purchased a Flood Stop automatic valve which is simple to install, simple in concept, and extremely effective.

Customer Review: Quality problems Summary: 1 Stars
I just had my A2C-M1 die about 18 months after install. Returning from 3 weeks of vacation, we only got a trickle of water from the hot upon use (don't know if the period of inactivity contributed to the problem). I removed the device and cleaned out the valves and screens, tho there was no crud or debris whatsoever in it - still didn't work. It just failed, I guess. This was, in fact, the second one - the first died when my house got hit by lightning (but so did many other electrical devices).
I would not select this product again - tho now I'm stuck with it since my laundry room is plumbed for the Intelliflow and it would be a pain to change.
Customer Review: Repeated failures Summary: 1 Stars
We have now had 4 separate Watts Intelliflow A2C units since our washer was installed in our second floor laundry room in February of 2008. This is a terribly unreliable product. Unfortunately, I have not found a reasonable alternative. The latest one failed after only nine months and I'm going to try and obtain a replacement under their warranty policy.
Customer Review: Saved my house and my back! Summary: 5 Stars
We installed this about a year ago, after my husband saw it on "This Old House." Like one of the other reviewers, my husband had some reservations about the plastic threads. When the plumber came to install it, he said one would have to be a real klutz to mess up plastic threads; in fact, he said, plastic threads are often more water-tight than metal. In any case, the plumber was so intrigued about the idea, that he only charged us half-time.
Before we installed the Watts valve, I had to reach over the top of the washer to manually turn off the valves. Now it's all automatic, and it's worked great. I see no reason why this won't work indefinetly. I love it!
