I bought this for home and hobby use. It meets those needs nicely. I bought several extra tips and some solder removal wicks as well. This is a big improvement over my older pencil solder guns, which had poor temperature control. The vendor (HMC Electronics) has a good web site for ordering and shipped on time.

I am so glad I bought this iron, much better then the $10 Radioshack fire starters I was used to. Iron heats up fast and feels great in my hand making projects much easier. Would definitely recommend this iron.

This iron was an upgrade for me from a cheap (~$15) budget soldering iron. The difference is incredible, the warm up time is very quick and it holds a steady temperature. I found the controls easy to use and the on-off switch is a huge plus over having to remember to unplug the cord on the budget iron. So far I've used it mainly for placing components in pcb's and its worked well. Another attraction for me is the wide range of tips available from Weller and their great reputation. I see this iron as an investment and a product I'll be using for a long time, highly recommend.
