I'm very happy with my purchase so far. If the bulbs last as long as they claim, they are a bargain.
At 3W I'm not sure what others were expecting in brightness, and although they have a slight bluish color, they work perfectly for my application which is 3 bulb cluster lamp in my front yard used by visitors and as a security light.
I've tried a wide range of the cheaper LED lights over the years and they generally are totally unsatisfactory for anything other than a nightlight. These are the first LED bulbs I've used that I like. As they are on every night the power savings is significant.
Don't buy this light for reading. If you need high detail, it probably won't make you happy. However, if you want a bright nightlight that doesn't use much power and has a long life, this bulb should make you happy. It's great for low level illumination sufficient to walk down a dark hallway, move through your garage, or walk down a concrete path in front of your house. It's uniform illumination is a nice surprise compared to many of the LED lights I've tried to use in the past.
With Amazon Prime, you can order 1 and try it out at little risk. That's what I did. I liked the first so I purchased more...

Yes, I read the reviews before I bought this, but I decided to buy it anyway.
This light is so dim and so blue that it's not practical. It's equal to about a 15 watt bulb, not 40.
If you want to try an LED bulb then buy a brighter one based on the lumen rating. After searching I've found a 13 watt LED bulb with 900 lumen, but it's $70. Subtract wasted money from this and it's really only $60.

3-watts isn't much, kind of like a full moon behind a thin cloud cover. I use it in my front porch light because incandescent or compact florescence bulb were too bright and drowed out the solar powered lights in my front yard. I also have a light on the side of the house without a timer. A 3-watt bulb runs 24 hours a day on 74 watts so I just leave it on all day.
