Tools and Hardware Reviews of Winsome Wood Single Drawer Storage Cart, NaturalCustomer Review: A Very Satisfied Customer Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this kitchen cart to hold the microwave and fit into a small corner in my kitchen. It fit the bill perfectly! It is a very solid piece, easy to put together and looks great. There's plenty of room in the cabinet for tableclothes, placemats, and all of my recipes!
I do have a small confession to make...I got this cart completely FREE with my bonus points from my Amazon Visa card..but even if I had actually paid for it, I would highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Better than expected Summary: 5 Stars
Even though the reviews were good about this item, I am a natural skeptic. This item however, was surprisingly well made and not too difficult to assemble providing you read the instructions carefully.
It's beautiful and of much better quality than other items out there in the same price range.
Customer Review: Built solid, but questionable craftsmanship Summary: 3 Stars
First of all, the product itself is solid wood. No complaints at all there. The instructions are easy to follow, and it's actually surprisingly easy to put together. The instructions recommend two people put it together, but I had absolutely no problems putting it together on my own. Since it's real wood and not cheap particleboard, it feels sturdy and I'm not worried about it falling apart on it's own.
However, while the wood itself is good, the quality control isn't. Some of the pieces come with pre-fitted pieces that are screwed in on the factory's end. Some of them were positioned incorrectly, to where I had to unscrew them, drill new holes about 1/8" further, and re-attach the pieces.
For example, the drawer is built from a total of 4 pieces - 4 sides and a bottom panel. The front has two wooden blocks screwed to it that the rest of the drawer frame gets attached to. One of those two pieces only had one of the two screws put in, and didn't even have a screw hole for the second one. It also was attached too low so the bottom panel wouldn't slide in. I had to detach it, drill new holes in, and re-attach it. Plus find a screw that fit the assembly, since it was missing it completely.
Another issue, there are several vertical planks that get placed between the sides. One of them has an assembly with magnetic clips that the doors rest against when they're closed. That piece was put in on the wrong side. So it would either be upside down (so the drawer wouldn't fit) or inside out, to where the doors can't close. I had to unscrew it, drill holes, and re-attach it in the right place.
Also in the process of attaching the back panel in, since the grooves didn't align perfectly, the pressure caused some minor cracks to appear to the thin wooden panel. Not noticable unless you look close-up, but it shouldn't happen at all.
For the price, I'm pleased with the purchase. Having fixed the fabrication errors, the cart now looks great and stands solid. The pieces themselves are crafted great - based on that and the design I'd give the cart a 4 or 5. But due to the shoddy job the fabrication crew did putting together the pre-assembled pieces, I'll have to give it a 3. I would've rather put all the pieces together myself than have to go through and correct their mistakes.
Customer Review: Excellant solid wood kitchen cart Summary: 5 Stars
The Winsome Woods kitchen cart is one of the best built in it's price range! I looked everywhere for an affordable well-built kitchen cart, was about to give up, until I found this Winsome Woods cart on Amazon.com. Kitchen carts in this price range are very flimsy, and made from particle (fiber) board that's laminated or real wood that's paper thin and has numerous defects! Not the Winsome Woods brand kitchen cart. The wood used in this cart is excellant. The cart is solid and assembles with ease and precision. I was impressed with the high quality, extra large screws used to assemble this cart. Once it's together, it's rock solid, no wobble what so ever. It can definately hold some weight, like a large microwave oven. The cart is all real wood product, the frame and top are solid thick wood, as well as the doors, the handles an the towel bar. The sides, back and drawer bottom are real wood veneer, similar to a thin sheet of plywood. Which is plenty durable and serves it's purpose. Many other brands on the market use pressed carboard that is laminated for their sides and back. The shelves are probably the most impressive, they're solid slats of real wood joined together in a frame like construction. The shelves are definately solid and can hold some weight. Again, others out there are flimsy thin particle (fiber) board that warps and crumbles over time. The finish is a natural oil rubbed, with clear coat. Quality like this in ready-to-assemble furniture is very hard to find in this price range! I'm extremely satisfied and very impressed with the Winsome Woods kitchen cart. I would definately recommend them, and buy from them again.
Customer Review: Excellent value Summary: 5 Stars
The lumber alone would cost more than the engineered product. Easy to assemble, all parts included plus two extra fasteners. Highly recommended.
