Customer Review: Extremely Poor shipping/handling

I purchased the item as a Christmas gift for my mother. Shipping time was reasonably good (a week). The shipping and handling by UPS was not good at all. The box was completely ripped open on the top and bottom, the instruction booklet was separated from the rest of the box. The blower was sitting on my porch with just the box draped over it. The sides of the box were also pushed in, but the unit appears to be ok. I am sure it was thrown around and hopefully it still works. I did plug it in and it appears to work. I'm hoping & assuming everything that was supposed to be in the box was there. The box needs some major taping and will still look awful to give as a gift. Hopefully some efforts will be made to improve shipping more of these units in the future.Customer Review: Fabulous!

I am a single, older female who has used Toro power shovels for many years. Due to health problems, I can no longer use the power shovel because of the lifting required. (It has no wheels). I ordered the Snow Fox because it rolls, it's lightweight, and small enough to tuck into the front hall.
We were just hit with a nice 6" snow, and I tried out my new toy. I LOVE IT! The wheels mean that I don't have to lift it, but it is light enough to lift into the house. It tilts easily to roll over obstacles. It has directional vanes to blow right, left or straight ahead. It has a cord retainer to keep the extension cord from disconnecting (a MAJOR annoyance with my old machine). And, the price was right!

Believe me when I tell you.
No other product can whisk you away into a summer dreamland more effortlessly than the SnowFox Snow Thrower.
Abs flexed imagine being towed behind the Mastercraft Stars & Stripes Competition Ski Boat. My golden locks dancing in the wind. My body...... a glistening masterpiece worthy of a postcard. The size of the spray from the SnowFox is only matched by the wall of water created by my top-of-the-line Connely single ski, as I smoothly slice through the wake. Be the envy of the neighborhood and leave onlookers speechless as you carve through the slalom course (mistake free) in record time.
Do yourself a favor, look no further and fill your life with exuberance immediately!

We use our Snow Fox here in Breckenridge, Colorado. We don't have a lot to shovel, but due to our average snowfall, it still gets tiresome. Now, I look forward to shovelling.
I looked at the Toro, but opted to spend a little more for the MTD Snow Fox. I wish it had a little more powerful motor. The handle should be adjustable for people taller than Danny DeVito. I have to stoop to use it. Also, the low angle of the handle makes getting into tight places a challenge. That's my main disappointment, but it isn't anything that would discourage me from recommending it.
The Fox comes with a three position chute for directing the thrown snow. Here's where a more powerful motor would really improve the machine. In either of the angled positions (straight ahead, 45 degrees to the right or left) the snow dribbles out of the machine. This is inspite of the fact that in the straight position the snow shoots out 20 feet.
I took the cover off of mine and used my Dremel to add an extra position for the chutes. Now, my blower is a 5 position model. All I need now is to swap in a 5 hp motor (c;

This item works very well for cleaning snow from my decks and works as advertised. The price was much better than locally. The straight froward chute direction throws snow much better the the angled directions. Has sufficent power for light to medium weight snow.
