I first saw this at JoAnn Fabrics and thought it was kind of dumb. Who would need something like that? Just put your yarn in a bag. This was before I started up crocheting/knitting again.
When my skein started getting smaller and the inside sunk in, my foot accidentally caught the skein and I had yard everywhere. My cats also thought this was a fun new toy that I was dangling just for them. When I went back to JoAnn's to buy the other color I was running out of, I had a 40% off coupon and used it on the large yarn container. This has been worth every penny. I would have paid full price for it had I known how convenient it was.
I can now crochet (a baby blanket) on my bed, the couch, on the floor, wherever I feel like. I don't have to worry about the cats getting into the bag and messing up the yarn, or anything getting on the skeins from them being dragged around. I can even take my project to work or a friends house, to work on it, without any concerns.
I fit one large skein and one small skein in this tub at the same time and they fit a little squished, but not so much that the yarn is hard to get out. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this container again.
