Tools and Hardware Reviews of Yh Lh Vicks 1.5 Gal VaporizerCustomer Review: Awesome, Long Lasting Vaporizer...kind of a pain to clean...works great Summary: 4 Stars
I love this vaporizer. I grew up using them and after several years of not too much cleaning and constant use, the heating element broke, instead of getting a new version of the vaporizer, I am looking to replace mine...same model and all. Once you have an idea of how its best for you to clean it, cleaning it is easy, it is better to put salt in it, and also to put purified water(if you have that option). This is a simple machine, easy to understand, works great...not expensive, I totally would recommend it to anybody and everybody.
Customer Review: Cheap, does job, no off button Summary: 4 Stars
Lots of choices between warm and cold humidifiers out there. So confusing. My son was sick and needed one. You could spend $10-$60 on humidifiers. I bought this one because it was cheap and if it was the wrong one (warm versus cold), it wasn't alot of money to spend. It does its job, is QUIET. CONS: No off button (although it does turn off automatically when water is low), otherwise I have to pull the plug out of the wall. Also, I have to add salt to the water (I didn't know I had to do this but after 10 minutes of no steam, the directions say keep adding salt until steam appears). There are NO FILTERS and NO SETTINGS. I didn't want to have to clean or buy filters. I'm not sure about the settings but so far it works, so the settings aren't that big of a deal to me.
Overall, works and is inexpensive.
Customer Review: Could be better but serves its purpose. Summary: 4 Stars
It holds plenty of water and really fills a bedroom with moisture.Works great when your kids {or you} are congested or coughing badly. Warms the room slightly too. Does get way too hot to touch. Another plus is the resivoir for vapor med. like eucaliptus oil.Vicks makes some you can use or you can just buy the bath gel and put that in but don't get it in the vapor outlet or it will make bubbles only!
Customer Review: Disintegrates into itself Summary: 1 Stars
I received this humidifier as a thoughtful gift from my grandparents. However after the first time I used it I noticed a brackish color to teh water left and blackish flecks up to a quarter inch in diameter in the tank when I emptied it in the morning. The operating portion of the device that sits in the water was black so I assumed that it was something temporary. After two more uses it was seemingly getting worse. All I could think is that here I am using this for respiratory health and it's spewing these black particles into the air.
I'm currently attempting to contact the manufacturer via email but have not heard back from them of yet. I have sent a second request.
Customer Review: Good for colds or occasional use only Summary: 2 Stars
I used to use these humidifiers every night, and they do put out a lot of nice warm moisture- but they are a pain to fill, a pain to clean, and with my water I have to add salt. After a while the output goes down and it starts to bubble/overboil and spit. Don't use this for an everyday humidifier, I never would for everyday, but I would spend the 12 bucks to get one for a week or two's use if I got sick. I do not know if a cool mist humidifier like the one I just bought would do so well for a cold.
The Vicks models are cheap to buy and cheaply made...not for long term or heavy duty use.
