When I showed this unit to my wife, she took it around the house and checked all of the batteries that seem to end up in our drawers.
As others have stated, you need to test the batteries more than once. But the instructions recommend this due to various factors.
Since this device tests the battery under load, it should provide a more accurate test than simply using a voltmeter.
There are a few issues though - albeit minor ones.
First, the battery box is a bit difficult to open. Not a big deal, but it could have been a bit easier to open.
Next, the instructions do not state to depress the button on the side of the unit to turn it on. And you cannot turn the tester off - it turns itself off after a minute or two of non-use.
Lastly, the tester is a bit harder to use for left-handers because the negative test lead exits the right side of the battery, favoring the use of the right hand to hold the lead. Left-handers would naturally hold the lead in the left hand. When you do this, you have to almost turn the tester upside down and read the display at the bottom.
It would have been better to have the lead coming out of the top or bottom so it would be easy to use with either hand. Most folks would not notice this, but left-handed people (like me) immediately notice it.
I still gave the tester 5 stars as all of these things are minor, and I like that it is made in the USA. I'd gladly pay a few dollars more for something made in the US these days.

This is the third Mini Multi-Battery Tester I have purchased. This tester
has saved me enough money by NOT throwing away batteries that they have
paid for themselves. The batteries this testers uses have lasted a very
long time. I would very highly recommend buying this tester or one very
similiar to it. I have seen other tester's that look like it that test
even more batteries than this one will test. These tester's are a little
on the pricey side but they will actually save you money and in my
opinion are more than worth their small price. Batteries can get very
expensive very quick!!!!

I considered trying one of the gadgets that pop into a holder to test the batteries, but some reviews stated they were inconsistent in results. I ordered this battery tester and am very pleased. I'm getting consistent results almost every time. My problem is holding the battery still enough on the contacts while the results are determined. I'm also pleased that it measures the battery with a load test.Customer Review: One of my best tech buys ever!

This battery tester is awesome. It's the perfect blend of sophistication yet easy enough for a non-tech person to use. The tester has definitely saved me time wondering whether which battery is working or not. Don't waste your time with analog readers or testers designed for engineer types. One of my best tech buys! I originally bought mine more than double the price, so I'm happy to buy a 2nd for my family.
