For a novice it can, at first, be a bit confusing! However, after a few trys, and actually watching the DVD instructions, it performed beautifully! The sensor seems fine. I got it, and promptly used it. My shelf went up into studs the first time. It's too bad that it only senses to 1.5", but that's what the higher price range is for. I can't speak to using it in tricky circumstances, or if it ages poorly, but the first use was good....Customer Review: Best Stud Finder

This is the best stud finder I've ever used. While helping a friend install a flat screen tv, I borrowed this studfinder. Needless to say that I was so impressed, I ordered one through Amazon the following week. I've used it to install an AC unit through the wall. Very accurate and the lcd display makes it really easy to read. Best damn studfinder I've seen.Customer Review: Did not work on textured walls

After spending way too long trying to find the studs using an ancient magnetic pointer device, I decided to try the Zircon. Basically, the product did not work at all on my textured walls. I got both false positives and negatives. I tried all the tricks suggested in the manual to no avail. I ended up returning it.
