Customer Review: 2nd ones a dud too
Summary: 2 Stars

Within 30 days of purchase the 1st one broke...now this one has broken in 90 days. Great customer service...but what's the point if you have to replace it constantly.

Customer Review: A GREAT, HARD-WORKING DOG!
Summary: 5 Stars

With 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 kids and a 60x45 loft-like main area with a concrete floor, I needed help. I researched the roombas and decided that the Dirt Dog was the one to choose because it was designed for hard floor surfaces and had an over-sized dirt bin.

What a great choice! I absolutely love this dog. Unlike the other reviewer with the large space, we have all kinds of things for the dog to bump into (table, chairs, dog beds, sofa, walls...). We initially placed the dog in the center of the room and didn't pick up anything just to see what the dog could do. It did a few turns & took off diagonally across the room. It just kept bumping & going under tables & chairs, and made its way out & went off in another direction.

According to the instructions, the dog is suppose to have patterns that it follows for cleaning, but I think our space is so big that it just seems to scoot randomly after a bump redirects it.

Random patterns or not, the dog really does pick up screws, dog hair, candy wrappers & regular dirt. For other spaces, rather than a "virtual wall", I used recycle bins and boxes to keep the dog restricted to my tile floor kitchen & the dog did a fine job. As for other things, the dog will push itself onto area rugs (low pile) and even went over a cotton doormat. We also have used it on a wall-to-wall low pile carpeted room and found that it works well on this type of surface as well. As others have noted, it does not like rug fringe & cords, so I have to make sure those are taken up or blocked.

The manual says that the dog will clean up to 60 minutes. My experience is that this time is correct.

I do not expect the dog to do all my cleaning - I still have to get the corners and wall edges and mop - but the dog has significantly lightened my cleaning load. I'm now looking at scoombas to keep the dog company.

Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase, and wish I had made it sooner. I'd give Dirt Dog 10 stars if I could. Highly and Enthusiastically Recommended.

Customer Review: A Great Time-Saver!
Summary: 5 Stars

The floor in my office is rough exposed-aggregate concrete, comprised of a pebbly uneven surface that traps sand, crumbs, and other fine debris and is almost impossible to clean with a standard upright vacuum. I also have a golden retriever that sheds constantly. I had finally resorted to using a bulky shopvac to clean this floor, which was a hassle and took up a lot of storage space in the closet.

I thought I would give the Dirt Dog a try, though I was skeptical that it would be able to clean such a rough and irregular surface. After I charged it up, I turned it loose on the floor and watched it go to work. To my surprise, it not only was able to handle the rough surface but it did a fantastic job of cleaning. When it did encounter an especially bumpy section of the floor, it would stop, back up an inch or so, turn a few degrees, and take another run at it. Most often it only took one extra try to get over any extra bumpy spot on the floor.

After about an hour, I shut it off and flipped it over to clean it. The dust bin was full of dog hair, paper clips, plastic bread wrapper clips, push pins, and pieces of dog kibble. The bin was easy to empty and the brush was also easy to pop out and remove the dog hair that had wrapped around it.

The floor looks great and I'm really satisfied with this purchase!

Customer Review: A PERFECT Gift for a Garage.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my father for his birthday after he redid his garage. He LOVES it and so does my mother. He uses it a few times a week sand the thing picks up every little piece of dirt off the garage floor. It has even picked up screws and other things that fall from his workbench. It is rugged and easy to use. He went out and got the base station for it as well so when it is done cleaning it just returns to its home base. Great product. When nothing bad can be said about something then it must work perfectly.

Customer Review: A great little helper
Summary: 4 Stars

I have owned my Dirt Dog for a couple of months now, and just thought that I would share a quick review.

This thing cleans very well. All it does is brush the floor, but I have a great dane, miniature schnauzer, and cocker spaniel, so I need all the help I can get.

My floor by the back door is tile, and I let this guy brush it daily to pick up the grass the dogs track in. It does this job wonderfully. I also use it to sweep up the kitchen and dining room tile, and it picks up whatever mess is there better than I can do sweeping. The biggest help this little guy provides is cleaning my extra bathroom. My roommate is asian, and she has long, thick black hair, and it gathers in the corners of the bathroom quick. This guy has no problem running through there and picking it up for me. It also does what it is supposed to do, clean the garage, very well. I have a couch in my garage and I was shocked at how much stuff was under it when this guy was through. It does its job VERY well.

The only problem I have is that it is loud. I mean, louder than my Dyson, and it doesn't even have a vacuum. Maybe mine is the exception, but I can't even turn it on while I'm trying to sleep. I just use it while I'm not watching tv or anything, or when I run to the store. But it's still something to think about.
