Customer Review: Cleans my carpets and floors, inside and outside

I have 5 kids and a 4000 sq ft house -- lots of laundry and housekeeping! Since I work part time, I was at the point of deciding to hire a maid to come twice a month, but I really didn't want to spend the money. I thought if I could just get something to help me with one of the major tasks, I'd be okay. It'd be better to spend a couple hundred dollars on iRobots, than to pay for someone else to do the floors only every two weeks.
After checking the Amazon reviews, I purchased a refurbished Scooba (mop) and was so happy with its performance that I decided to purchase the Dirt Dog, too. I chose it because it costs less than the other Roomba vacuums and actually seems to do more.
I'm happy to report that I have given Dirt Dog a thorough work out (for about 2 months now) and he has not failed. He cleans my tile, hardwood, carpets, and concrete patio. He goes and goes and goes. I have to pick up socks, cords, and fringed rugs (he's okay with unfringed rugs), and then he will keep going for over an hour and pick up everything in his path.
When I first set Dirt Dog loose, he picked up a lot of dust and bits of stuff that I didn't know was there -- he went under my furniture (which I do move occasionally) and found plenty of dust. I was amazed at what came out from under my son's bed -- YUCK! Now that Dirt Dog runs regularly, there's not as much for him to do, but he works diligently anyway.
Dirt Dog is not quiet, but he's no louder than any other vacuum cleaner (maybe even quieter because he's so close to the ground) and no louder than my kids. I don't mind the sound at all.
I have had to remove the sidebrush and clean the hair that tangled around it, but this is easily done with a screwdriver.
So far, I'm thrilled. I'll update this review if anything changes.

I'm on a wheelchair I use to drag a canister vac around until I got the Dirt Dog, and it does a better job even with 4 birds (it does their room peanut shells and all) and 2 cats and their litter box. I love it!Customer Review: Coun't live without it!!!

WOW, is all I can say. This is my second irobot product, I also own the scooba floor washing robot (which I also love). I bouth this to use in my ourdoor spaces like garage and large (20'x40') outdoor living space. It does agreat job in those spaces which I expected, but I did not expect that it would work so well on my hardwood floor inside! I run this EVERYDAY inside. We recently took up all of our carpet and I really was not prepared for the amount of dust and hair that I would see on my floors everyday. On a whim I decided to run this to see how much dust it would pick up, WOW was I amazed. I am now thinkg about getting 2 one for inside and one for out. I love this product and would highly recommend it to any one who hates sweeping as much as I do.Customer Review: DIRT DOG (CAT)

I purchased the Dirt Dog because I have a cat that sheds like crazy. Between her hair and mine, I opted for the "heavy duty" robot. It's been the best $160 i've ever spent. It really works =D ...if it could dust and mop all at the sametime, i'd marry it !!!!! I higly recommend the irobot, this one works for me. GOT THIS BECAUSE I HAVE PARROTS AND WAS TIRED OF SWEEPING UP BIRD SEED CONSTANTLY. IT WAS JUST THE THING I NEEDED. NOW I JUST TURN IT ON AND IT DOES ALL THE WORK. IF YOU HAVE BIRDS AND A WOOD OR LINOLEUM FLOOR IN YOUR HOUSE THIS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
