Customer Review: be prepaired to waste money on this and its batteries

The battery in this product has only a minimal life before it goes bad and is not capable of running the roomba. Be prepaired to spend $40+ every 3 months for a new battery if you use the roomba once a week. Also the battery seems too self discharge over the course of a week so the roomba is usually not even ready to go when you plan to use it. I have owned two roombas(second one was a gift) and 4 batteries and my experience has been the same with each one.Customer Review: cheapo shoddy construction, limited utility

Good idea poorly executed, the unit is poorly designed and to top it off cheaply constructed. The dust gets in everywhere in the unit, removing the bin spills things all over the place. Minimal debris/dust collection capacity, a cup maybe which is nothing compared to 1-2 gallons in normal vacuums, filter the size maybe a quarter of the table napkin. Laughable. Suction power equally laughable. Constructed extremely cheaply to drive renewed purchases I quess. Good only for occasional finishing sweeps (it goes everywhere you with your normal vacuum may not) and pet hair collection. Nothing else. Sorry now I bought it. The fresh battery last me only 60 minutes which is barely enough to clean one small room. Make sure you get the model with the base station - otherwise having to manually plug it in gets old in no time whatsoever. Like in a week or so.Customer Review: good idea bad performance

I have gone thru two of these and now have an expensive piece of junk that does not run. Beware! The batteries fail and the machine itself has problems with regular use. I am very disappointed.Customer Review: i simply can't live without it!

this little gadget just takes off and cleans every inch of carpet that it can reach. the only thing i have to do, is block off any area that i don't want it to clean; not that you can ever have too much clean. I only wish it would charge faster.Customer Review: much better than I expected!

I was very hesitant about this product after reading all the reviews, and I tried not to get my hopes up too much, but this thing is so cool!
HARDWOOD: I bought it exclusively for the hardwood, and it does a great job. No more little crumbs stuck to your feet when you walk around barefoot. (at least for an hour or two)
CARPET: Like I said, I bought it exclusively for hardwood, but couldn't resist turning it loose upstairs on the carpet. It cleaned the whole upstairs in 45 minutes, and you can tell from the little robot tracks that it covered the whole floor, squeezing everywhere it could. It actually looks like you vacuumed!
PET HAIR: Usually I say that doesn't apply to us. We have 2 yorkies and they shed very little, but I was honestly ashamed at the amount of hair it pulled out of the carpet the first time around.
BUMPS: It went over the transitional pieces from hardwood to tile, no problem.
GETTING STUCK: It has yet to get stuck anywhere. Even under the table with little room and a million chair legs, it works really hard to find its way out.
EMPTYING BIN: Yes, you probably need to dump the dirt after every go-round, but it's so easy! The tray pops right out, as does the filter which also needs to be cleaned, and then pops right back in. Not to mention the bin is pretty big.
So, yeah, you need to pick your stuff up out of the floor before you run it, but do you normally vacuum around your kids' toys? I personally pick up the floor before I vacuum anyway, so what's the big deal? Oh, and it hasn't even come close to scuffing up the baseboards.
Couldn't ask for much more.
