Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot Scooba 350 Floor-Washing RobotCustomer Review: Scooba 5900 & 380 are terrible Summary: 1 Stars
I bought a Scooba 5900 in the fall of 2006. Within about 90 days, it malfunctioned & had to be replaced under the warranty. I boxed it up & paid to send it back to irobot. I received an in-warranty exchange of another Scooba 5900. It also stopped working within the warranty period. This time irobot sent me the Scooba 380 (May, 2007) In May 2008, I started having problems again with it not working. I called customer service & was told by the technician to replace the charger (due to the 4 beeps emitted from the unit). It took 2 months & 16 days to receive the trio pak ($119+). The scooba worked for about 15 minutes & then died. No lights, no sounds - nothing. Customer service solution is that I can pay $178 for a Scooba 5800 or $384+ for a Scooba 6060. THIS PRODUCT IS UNRELIABLE & A RIPOFF. BUYER BEWARE!!
Customer Review: Scooba = miracle worker Summary: 5 Stars
I wish I'd gotten my Scooba 350 sooner. Living with a 35kg/77lb Old English Sheepdog puppy who hasn't learned to lift his leg up when peeing, I'd developed thick callouses on my palms from mopping. So the Scooba is heaven sent! My floors are now cleaner than they've ever been.
My unit had an initial snag after the first overnight charge - it stopped after less than 10 minutes despite the indication of being fully charged when it started. That was thankfully, a one-off incident - I haven't stopped using it since. Although it charges fairly quickly, I wish it could do more rooms on one charge. Otherwise, it's fabulous in keeping the house clean and letting me spend more time with my puppy. I can't stop telling all my friends and family about Scooba!
Customer Review: Scooba Woes Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased my Scooba from iRobot in November of 2007 and it worked great for 7 months, then stopped working with a check tank light. Tech support people at iRobot for the most part have been nice and seemed interested in helping solve the problem issues. They run through several issues and when exhausting all avenues decide that my scooba needs to be replaced.
Since then however, I have had several replacements. Some of which would work once until it was time to empty the water tank and then the inevitable check tank light comes on after playing its little song and dance. Others did not work at all saying check tank, and some worked but wouldn't put any water down. Oh, and one would put water down, but would not pick it back up. Upon going through several tech supports and all of the trouble shooting, they would then send another unit. I was told that these replacements were new units, two of which were obviously used and they didn't bother to hide that fact with the scratches and broken filter. Someone in their own sales dept. told us they wouldn't send a new unit, that it would be a comparable unit. Does this mean that since my original unit no longer worked, they would only send us used broken ones to replace it?
Now, since I have had more replacements than anyone else (research scooba reviews and you will find many similar cases), they had one of mine sent back to them at their office in Lancaster. I received a call from a girl with a small voice but a very big attitude that we apparently didn't know how to prime the unit, because they had it working just fine. Funny how my first one worked for 7 months with little ole me priming it all by myself and since then did manage to prime others and actually had them working until the tank needed to be emptied. The tech support people had us do the priming each and every time and yes water sprayed out of both sides, yet the unit would not run. But, we must be the reason these units aren't working, so they will return the last unit back to us and that's the end of it. They will do nothing else to help solve this issue. Seems to me that when I spend more than $400 for a floor washing machine, I shouldn't have to work so hard to get IT to work.
Customer Review: Scooba floor washing robot Summary: 4 Stars
We have a large house with heated hard wood floors.
and lots of people walk around barefoot
Consequently minimal dirt and dust stands out requiring
lots of sweeping and washing. Especially in winter with
snow, dirt and ice easily tracked into the house.
The Scooba (and Roomba) have greatly reduced the work
needed to keep these floors in top shape.
Excellent product.
Customer Review: Should have a charging dock. Summary: 3 Stars
I am pleased with the overall operation and performance of the SCOOBA but my SCOOBA was not good at detecting a carpeted area and "wet on the rug" before it just stopped there. It only has one virtual wall and the ROOMBA virtual walls are not compatible with it, so it is difficult to keep it roped in with only one virtual wall. It would also be nice if they enhanced it to have a charging base and be able to return to it for charging like the ROOMBA does.
