Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman KT1025 System Stainless-Steel Dish RackCustomer Review: Decent dishrack but not worth the hype! Summary: 3 Stars
I had been looking all over for a drainboard that would allow me to position my dishrack horizontally on my counter instead of vertically but I was unable to find a board large enough to accomodate the needs of a family of four. I purchased this new system largely because of the glowing reviews even though I really only needed the drainboard and was perfectly happy with my old dishrack. I have finally come to terms with the need to keep a dishrack on my counter (at least until my kids move out!) and this looks fine. I personally feel that it is a lot of money for a dishrack and that the design should be flawless for that price. It isn't. The cup holders only feel secure with some of my glasses--they just don't feel stable with all the different size glasses I wash and there are only four of them that lean over the sink. I am not using them because I fear that my glasses will easily be knocked off and break. I primarily wash my everyday glasses in the dishwasher anyway so this isn't a big deal to me. What is a big deal is that the drainboard leaks. There are three covered holes on the drainboard that allow for the change in direction of the system from horizontally to vertically. Water is dripping out from these covered holes...and I have never even uncovered them...and it is pooling on my granite countertops. The more dishes I wash, the more water that leaks and if I wash a lot of dishes, the water slides from the countertop, down my cabinets and pools on the floor. Not good. This did not start happening until after about two weeks of use so I no longer have the box to return it. This dishrack hasn't exactly changed my life the way it seems to have changed the lives of other reviewers! For me, it was basically a trade off between a nicer looking dishrack that is positioned the way I want it and the added work of mopping up the water it leaks.
Customer Review: Dishrack rocks Summary: 5 Stars
We bought the simplehuman KT1025 system dish rack based on the recommendation from a friend after we remodeled our kitchen last month and decided to get rid of the dishwasher. It fits into our counter top nicely and the stainless steel makes it easy to clean. The little water drain sprout feature is a big plus. We love it.
Customer Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
I don't like to admit I've paid $50 for a dish rack, but this was well worth the money. I don't have a dishwasher in my apartment, and am cooking all the time. This holds an incredible amount of dishes and pots and pans. Great compartments for knives/silverware. Just be careful with the glass holders. I put two wine glasses on them and with the slightest bump, they crashed to the floor.
Customer Review: Excellent drainboard Summary: 5 Stars
After using a wooden drainboard for years, this sleek modern one is quite a step up especially in using space effectively.
Customer Review: Expensive but May Be Worth It Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really cool drying rack if that's possible. It was purchased for my mother who likes stylish things. She likes it much more than the conventional one we had before, because decor-wise it's much more attractive.
As to function it is generous in size and the box format keeps dishes from falling out of it, unlike the conventional "X" frame. Also the drain on the item works well, so water is drained in the direction that we set it up (toward the sink of course).
So is it worth the $50? Well if you are remodeling your kitchen and putting in "modern" amenities, the style will fit right in, and the function will work well for you.
