Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman KT1025 System Stainless-Steel Dish Rack

Customer Review: High quality dishrack with good features
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for my apartment when I was rooming with others in the military since I was brought up to hand wash my dishes and because there weren't enough dishes to warrant use of the dishwasher (it didn't clean fast/well anyways). I was about to buy a cheap Sterlite one from Wal-mart, but something told me to research for a quality one and I ended up picking this one. I don't regret my decision at all--now that I think back on it, I'm happier that I made a smart decision to get this.

I like the modular features of this. The configuration in the picture will leave the counter under the dishrack a mess. It's not good enough to go without a towel underneath. Since cleaning the brown mess underneath, I reconfigured it to have the utensil holder on the inside to drip on the pan and the cup holders to hang over the sink. I don't use the cup holders for tall glasses; I don't use them for cups at all--I stick my sponges and scrubbers on them. The feet that fold out to tilt it and let the water drain out is a good idea, but they're too far out in the corners for it to sit level on the counter and not have the metal gutter spout thingee stream it onto the rim of the sink. I have the rack on the rim of the counter and bunched up the towel on the other end to make it a bit higher on that end so the water actually drains into the sink and down the drain.

Now recently, I moved back home and offered it to my mom. At first, she was turned off by its shininess, saying that she didn't need something that fancy. I put it back into a box and said, "Oh well, it's a shame it's going to collect dust for a while. Maybe I'll sell it on craigslist for $20." It was then she said, "Wait, I'll buy it." I couldn't hold back my grin and I showed her how I had previously configured it (I didn't take any money). In contrast, her old rack was significantly smaller (for a much bigger household of 6 without a dishwasher), had a drip pan that didn't drain water, and was also slightly bent out of shape. I can't imagine the stiff/sturdy materials of this getting out of shape and it cleaned up pretty well after a couple years of use.

So not only does the dish rack outperform others, it gave me a happier sense of mind about the decision, and it provided an unexpected humorous memory.

Customer Review: I love this dish rack!
Summary: 5 Stars

I never thought I could get excited over a dish rack, but this one is wonderful! It looks great, is very spacious, and is flexible. You can put the cup holders, utensil holders (large ones), and special knife holder in different positions. The water spout works great as well, and the plastic dish holder has held my dishes securely. I will be looking for other simplehuman products now that I've seen the quality of what they make.

Customer Review: Just Right For Me
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried several different dish drainers and this is the best yet. It is light, stays put but above all it permits a thorough air drying wihout disruption. Simply, it works and works well.

Customer Review: Never thought I would pay so much for a dish drainer!
Summary: 5 Stars

I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would ever pay so much for a dish drainer but I am glad that I did. I don't have a dishwasher and when my husband and I put in new kitchen counters I began looking for a new dish drainer. The ones that I saw in most stores were either too small, too big, too cheap looking, or too much like the one that I was replacing after many years and never really liked.
I looked at reviews online and this dishrack got top reviews everywhere I looked. So I bit the bullet and ordered it about a month ago and immediately loved it. It is so well designed that it almost makes washing dishes enjoyable. I especially like the different sections for plates and pots and pans. The utensil rack is great, especially the separate section for knives.
I like everything about it except for two very minor things: #1--The tray does not extend under the utensil rack so sometimes water drips out of it and #2--water tends to collect in the front corners of the tray.
I highly recommend this dishrack--it is well worth the price!

July 12, 2009: after a year of daily use, I still highly recommend this dish drainer. It is easy to clean and looks brand new.

February 13, 2010: daily use has continued and my recommendation still holds--this is definitely worth the money.

I bought this dish rack for my elderly mother. She loves it. It has a clean modern look and space for all the dishes, flatware, and cups.
