I don't have the same exact can. I bought a 40L round version. The foot pedal broke after a year and a half. I emailed Simplehuman and they sent replacement parts free. They didn't hassle me about proof of purchase or anything. The operator said they had some issues with the pedal and an upgraded part was available. Being used to so-so customer service from other companies I almost didn't bother contacting them. I'm glad I took the chance. I'll pay more for a quality product when a company stands behind it!
