Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman Semi-Round Step Trash Can, Fingerprint-Proof Brushed Stainless Steel, 40 Liters /10.5 GallonsCustomer Review: If only it didn't dent so darn easy Summary: 3 Stars
So far its a nice looking, functional trashcan thats easy to load and unload. We just discovered it's biggest flaw is the metal on the base of the unit is very very thin. My wife dented it by bumping into it, I was able to knock part of it out. But beware it dents really really easy for stainless steel.
Customer Review: Pricey, but really nice Summary: 4 Stars
I can honestly say that I never would have bought this except for my wife. We started buying stainless appliances, and she wanted a nice trash can to match. So....
It really is a nice trash can. It holds more than you would think, given the semi-oval design. The sample OEM bags they sent with it work better than standard 13gal trash bags, as they hold onto the inner plastic liner better. But you can get away with using standard bags.
My 6 year old must have put 10 months use on the lid mechanism in a month, and it is still going strong. No complaints there. It is said to be pretty much fingerprint proof, but I can tell you, a 6 year old has found a way to leave fingerprints...
Overall, this is a great product. Is it worth the price? Well, my wife thinks so! We are satisfied with our purchase.
Customer Review: Super nice addition to the kitchen Summary: 5 Stars
I looked at these simplehuman trash cans for years before catching a one day only price at Amazon and finally buying one. They are well designed, and the lid shock system does let the lid go down gently with almost no noise. It looks great in my kitchen and seems to hold more than my old cheap plastic trash can--I'm glad I snagged one at the $65.00 price. It is a lot to pay for a trash can, but I expect to get many years of use and a good look for my open floor plan kitchen at the same time.
Customer Review: Thin Steel Summary: 3 Stars
Cool looking trash can! Really like the way the lid works, but be very careful unpacking. The stainless is so thin I pushed a dent in it removing it from the packaging. Once in place, I stepped on the foot pedal to open it, the lid came up, tapped the counter and left a big dent in the top. Had I known the stainless steel was going to be more like aluminum foil, I would not have purchase it. You hope to get what you pay for; in this case, we didn't.
