Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman Sensor Pump, for Soap or Sanitizer, Black, 14 OuncesCustomer Review: Batteries on Bottom are a Serious Problem Summary: 1 Stars
We purchased this item at a home goods store. After three months of use the battery compartment was corroded and the unit failed to operate. After one month, I saw the problem developing and removed the batteries, cleaned out the compartment, removed/sanded the slight corrosion and made sure I tightened the screw that seals and holds the battery compartment properly and firmly. Two months later the unit failed and would not operate.
The design is flawed. Either soap leaks into the battery compartment or water does. The batteries need to be moved to the top and sealed against all moisture. I am currently researching our next purchase, but the batteries wil not be on the bottom!
Customer Review: Been through two of them... Summary: 2 Stars
In the last year I've purchased two of these. One worked great for nearly a year, then started dispensing only a tiny amount, no matter what setting was used. I opened the base (housing the switch and pump) and discovered that it was filled with soap; apparently the soap reservoir had been leaking for some time into this area. Cleaned it will with cotton swabs, but this didn't help. Did NOT try cleaning (adjusting/reseating) the spout out of which the soap dispenses, as others have done. Wish I'd had that idea before trashing it. But still, should you have to?
The other I bought never dispensed at all...followed the directions for priming, etc., but never worked, so that one was returned.
The sad thing is, I loved the thing while it worked! Very convenient and helpful when cooking. Haven't yet decided if I'll try again.
Customer Review: Best auto dispenser yet Summary: 5 Stars
I have loved the idea of having an auto-dispenser at home and have tried several since they were made affordable. Some have not done so well in the real world. This one has been great. I now have one with handsoap and one with dish soap at the kitchen sink.
They are so handy to get soap without getting dirty hands all over a bar or the top of a manual pump. Other models have had short battery life or problems dispensing. This one has done great. The variable dial enables a proper amount of soap based on its thickness.
The cons are the battery replacement is harder, with the need for a small screwdriver. They could have done better. The only other problem I've had with this one is after vacation and the soap at the nozzle had dried out, it took a bit of coaxing to get it going again, but not really a big deal considering.
Plus, the manual dispenser button is a neat idea for those times you need lots. I use it when washing a sink full of dishes to dispense directly into the sink.
I got mine for $25 at Costco so this price is a little high for me, but I would recommend this.
Customer Review: Best on the market!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this beacause my daughter had a hard time pushing down on regular soap dispensers. It works perfectly! Easy to use. Simply fill it with the soap of you choice. In the spot where the soap dispenses, there is a very small plug which controls the flow which you need to gently pull out and release (not break off) in order to break the vacuum seal. I had previously bought cheaper ones, Like the Emerson brand which do not work and make alot of noise when dispensing. Simplehuman is the best for the money!!
Customer Review: Big time leaks! Summary: 1 Stars
I too have had nothing but problems with this product. I am now on my 4th "new" one in under a year. The first 3 had leaks that went into the battery compartment and out the bottom... What a mess! I love the concept and my 4th (and final) one has now lasted almost 3 months!! YIPPEE!! (sarcasm intended)
