Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman Sensor Pump, for Soap or Sanitizer, Black, 14 Ounces

Customer Review: Bought 8 - wish they still worked
Summary: 3 Stars

Loved it and everyone that saw it in my remodled Kitchen thought it was amazing! First one I purchased and Bed Bath and Beyond, couldnt get to work, but they promptly replaced (even with soap in it) and the new worked great for about a year. In the meantime, purchased another for the bathroom. So cool, they became my "gift" of the year for Christmas and Bday - 6 more in all. One stopped working and my sister got it replaced, since then hers broke again and replaced with something new.

Appears None are working at this time! At least 3 leak soap from the bottom - the customer service reps say they need to be sent back and fixed? My mom is sending hers back and if they fix it, I may recommend for the rest of my relatives.

Mine just stopped? After recently replacing the batteries, both units light up but do not dispense any soap. Same soap as I used for a year, and even "priming" or pushing the button produces NO soap. I have sent them back as of last week and will "wait and see", if I get new ones or they get fixed.

Great idea, loved it when it worked, but now a pain and a bit embarrassing as I bought so many as gifts that are now little more then a decoration.

Customer Review: Broke after 10 months
Summary: 1 Stars

The pump initially worked fairly well, though the process to clear air bubbles is very finicky. Also, changing the batteries is harder than it should be. After 10 months the light started blinking continuously and wouldn't stop. The Simplehuman Web site has no phone numbers or live chat facility for immediate help, so I emailed them and got a response back the next day which told me to use Dial-brand soap, as some other brands are too thick, but said nothing about the flashing light. I finally got the light to stop blinking, but now I have to run the pump for 8 or 10 seconds each time before the soap comes out. The unit is still under warranty, so I'm sure that with enough effort I could convince them to send a replacement, but life is too short to spend it dealing with tech support for a soap dispenser. It's going in the trash.

Customer Review: Broken after 3 months
Summary: 1 Stars

Eats up battery power faster than you can use up the soap. I had to replace the batteries every 3 weeks, twice as often as the soap. After 3 months, it no longer worked. Pulling the lever to release vacuum did not fix the problem. Piece of junk.

Customer Review: Can't believe the ineptness of this company
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought their original model 2 years ago and it worked for about a month until it got wet. Not a bright manufacturing feat considering it sat next to the sink near wet hands and wasn't the slightest bit waterproof. I was convinced their new model would have passed through R&D with better dependability - I bought two. Well, they did add a rubber seal to protect the motor and batteries, if only they could get it to actually dispense soap. When I couldn't get either unit to work consistently I took one apart. The sensor was working, spinning the motor but the high tech pump (2 plastic gears) would stick causing the belt to spin without pumping soap - you get a noise like it's working but it's not. Did I just get a dud?? probably not considering I had two and both did the same thing. It's hard to find another company that makes a dispenser with comparable aesthetic value - this thing looks great sitting next to the sink, if only it worked. Until another company decides to corner the market I'll just have to wait for Jethro in R&D at Simplehuman (is this company name a coincident?) to add 2 cents of parts so their next model actually works. When it does I'll write a glowing review!

Customer Review: Cannot pump soap, unusable.
Summary: 1 Stars

After I unpack this item, I checked through the manual, and broke the seal by pulling the small plug at the nozzle down as instructed. Then I inserted batteries, and filled it up with SoftSoap liquid soap. Priming it turned out to be a challenge, I was pressing the dispense button, the pump was whirring, but no soap came out. I shook the unit, tapped it, etc. as suggested, and eventually it started working, for a short while.

I've been trying to use this for a couple of weeks now, but after a few successful uses, it simply stops pumping soap. Sensor works, the pump turns on, but no soap comes out. I've tried different soaps with different viscosity levels, no change. I finally gave up today and am returning it. Thank you Amazon for your hassle-free return policy.
