Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman Steel Frame Dishrack with Bamboo Knife Block, GreyCustomer Review: Expensive, But Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
It astonishes me that I am writing a review on a dishrack, but I hope this helps some potential buyers. I bought this for my parents as a Christmas gift and I think it was probably the most helpful thing I've ever done.
Let's be honest... Paying over $50 for a dishrack is excessive. In an economy like this, it may be borderline absurd for the normal being. If you do look past the initial sticker shock, however, you will find a great product. The durability of the build of this and its ability to be configured to meet a person's needs (raise/lower tines, drain to any side (depending on placement), and movable knife block & utensil pockets)is representative of what product design SHOULD be.
I am very happy with this product, and would recommend it over a cheesy, cheap wire-rack if your budget can support it.
Customer Review: Good design and function well worth the price. Summary: 5 Stars
Looks fantastic next to our new sink. Functionality is first rate. Rotating drip tray works just as it should. Bamboo knife block is great feature. Good design doesn't come cheap, so despite price, we are extremely pleased with this great product. For us, no more cheap rubber mats that poorly overlap sink edge, then collect mold and trap water underneath.
Customer Review: Just great! Summary: 5 Stars
I researched dish drainers for a while after my kitchen was remodeled. My old rubbermaid just had to go and besides they have cheapened the drainer tray to a hard plastic that does not tilt toward the sink like the rubber ones use to. I debated and debated as I researched. When my son sent me an Amazon gift card for my birthday I decided that I could now justify the 69 dollars for the Superhuman dishdrainer. I was not disappointed. It is big enough for my big family, drains over my new above counter silgranite sink, holds tons of dishes and even big pots and pans, holds lots of silverware and even the bamboo knife holder is an extra nice feature. It has a drain spout that can be moved to any side of the drainer and drains well. It also comes with 4 rubber feet that you can slip onto the legs that touch the counter. If you want it to tilt a little higher like I did, then you can leave the two tubber feet off the side that goes along the sink and it tilts very nicely toward the sink. When I first opened the box, I though wow it is pretty big, but it fits just right on my counter top and is not too obtrusive. It has a 5 year warranty which makes up for the cost of the drainer. I am keeping the nice box it came in just in case I do send it back for some reason. Well made in every way and attractive. I purchased the grey one which goes really well with my counter tops and tile along with the stainless appliances. It says the wire rack is rust proof, and the stainless sides are finger print resistent. I foresee having this one for a long time. The only thing negative for some people might be the size if you have a small family or very limited space. It does not seem to take up much more space than my orighinal rubbermaid drainer. I do believe, with all the drainers out there that this one is worth the money for style, performance and durability.
Customer Review: LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Summary: 5 Stars
We go through a cheap dish rack every year due to rust, grossness, etc. My husband has been lobbying hard for investing in a nicer one, and he finally convinced me to spend the money on this one, and it is AMAZING. This is foolishly expensive for a dish rack and it's worth every cent. The way the lower drip tray is designed, water never sits in the bottom, so it doesn't get slimy, and the spout directs the drip directly into the sink, so there's never water leaking around the base of the drainer on the counter. The knife block is a great feature, it's easier on the knife blades, and it seems safer too. It's bigger than I expected, and very nice looking with the stainless sides. We have a huge rust problem with our well water, but they claim it's rust proof and there's a five year warranty, so we shouldn't have a problem, I'll report back if we do!
The only strange thing I noticed is that if you pull the tray out to catch drips from the cup hooks, the water spout disappears under the drainer, so it would drain onto the counter. We solved this by putting the cup hooks on the sink side, but it seems like a strange design decision.
Customer Review: Nice looking and sturdy Summary: 5 Stars
It is great so far. The only thing I wish they will change is the knife holder can only hold small knives.
