Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman Steel Frame Dishrack with Bamboo Knife Block, Grey

Customer Review: Nice, but too big!
Summary: 4 Stars

This very expensive dish drainer has all the bells and whistles that you can think of--it's fancy. However, it's HUGE! It looked ridiculous on my counter next to the sink so I sent it back and got the smaller (and more reasonably priced) version. But, if you have room in your kitchen, it does everything but wash your dishes for you!

Customer Review: Nice, stylish and functional.
Summary: 5 Stars

After 30 years it was time to replace our one piece dish drainer. Much to our dismay the manufacturer of this product is out of business. Let the search begin. Simplehuman is the only company I could find that manufactured an all in one dish drainer. Teaching a couple of old dogs a new trick. Doing dishes by hand hasn't changed much since the days of indoor plumbing however adapting to something new sometimes can be problematic. Simplehuman made this transition simple-easy. Both my wife and I find adapting to this product is easy and the bamboo knife block is so nice for our chef quality knives plus the dish washer safe aspect of the over all product (I mean what's the sense in putting clean dishes in a dirty dish rack) makes this product a win win. We really appreciate this product. Thank You.

Customer Review: Not bad
Summary: 4 Stars

I am very happy with my dish rack but there is one little issue with it. The slots that hold the plates are a little strange. They go one way, than half way through it starts going the other way. I don't know.. Its a little strange. But other than that, it is an absolutely amazing dish rack.

Customer Review: Not built to last ...
Summary: 1 Stars

When I bought this dish drying rack 2 1/2 years ago I thought it was perfect for my granite, white, and stainless steel kitchen. It looked good and solid, and seemed to make sense functionally. BUT - I quickly discovered that its flipping capability was useless to me, as I immediately found the configuration that suited me best and stuck with it. Next I discovered the knife insert in the utensils rack accommodates small knives only. You are apt to break off the tip of a medium to large sized kitchen knife if you insert it in one of the slots provided. (In their current product description Simplehuman claims to have remedied that problem. You might want to check.) When I went to give the rack a thorough cleaning I found that though it comes apart (a helpful feature), even the 'parts' are unwieldy and hard to fit in either sink or dishwasher (most unhelpful). The little spout underneath (which leaks onto the counter) collects crud and is impossible to get at properly to thoroughly clean. It is by now permanently yuckky. Within six months after purchase the metal rack had started to rust at the weld joints, where I noticed the plastic coating had already begun to peel away. This has continued, and by now the area under the utensil rack in particular is full of rust. Clearly the plastic coating is not up to life in a kitchen, and there is a ventilation problem. I have wearied of the fruitless struggle to keep the rack clean and hygienic, and am now looking for a replacement. I don't mind paying extra for a superior product, but this expensive rack has not outlasted my cheap old rubbermaid model, as I had hoped. I most emphatically do NOT recommend it.

Customer Review: Not for raised sinks
Summary: 3 Stars

This dish rack does look really beautiful and has all the features we need in terms of drying dishes and cutlery, but it's just not practical for so many kitchen ceramic sinks out there that have raised lips. The lip of the sink causes the spout to sit horizontally, not downwards, defeating the purpose of draining water. So sad, but had to return it.
