We bought this garbage can to thwart our very smart labrador retriever. I was surprised by how attractive the can is and impressed that it took over three weeks for our dog to figure out how to open the lock. OMG. This can is the best. It looks great, it opens and closes well(slowly, no banging). I have no animals, so the lock was not a concern, but "clasp" and "lock" are too different things. This is a clasp. Certainly not the low price alternative, but if your looking for form and function over discount price, this is the can for you.Customer Review: Awesome can!

We bought this to replace one that was terrible. We couldn't take the bag out without it ripping. When this can arrived I was elated! The bags fit in snug around the top but don't tear when you take it out. The lid closes slowly which is nice. I decided to buy this for the locking lid alone. I have a 160 lbs. Great Dane that was knocking over the old can and making a mess. It works very well, cause I learned it wasn't the dog, but the cat knocking it over! She claws at the edge of the bag to get it to fall over, she can't seem to open this one and it frustrates her to no end! The pedal doesn't always work for me, I step on it and the whole can falls forward, but it's not a big deal. I can open the lid myself. It's the lock that makes this perfect for my crazy cat!Customer Review: Decent, could be better!

I bought this garbage can because I was tired of my old one being unable to keep everything covered for the night when the bag is only half full and not ready to be discarded. In other words, I was looking for something that would keep the garbage and the smell contained until the bag was full enough to throw out. I have to admit that this one did accomplish one of those goals: it is certainly spacious and keeps everything in the bag. However, it DOES NOT SEAL HERMETICALLY! Meaning it doesn't seal tight enough to keep smells in and very small flies out! That was a disappointment. Still, I can't complain too much because the manufacturer does not make the claim that it seals hermetically. Also, the step-on opening mechanism work quite well. So although I'm not pleased with the lack of airtightness, it functions as described so I somewhat approve, by giving it 3 stars.
