It's what I expected. It's a nice plastic trash can with a dampening feature.
Otherwise, it does have a tendency to 'travel' backwards on it's wheels, so I'm always having to drag it back where it belongs.

I really like the slim profile, and so far the lid has kept on. I don't have a dog that can get into the garbage so that's not an issue.
I bought two, one for garbage, one for recycling. I have to take the entire unit down to the recycling bin to dump. A liner accessory would be nice. Still, it's a good value and product.
Customer Review: bad hinge ***Great Customer Service/Warranty*

It works but the lid continues to come of the hinge. No problem for a year...but now, it now happes all of the time. As the plastic becomes soft over time it will do this. The more it comes undone the more the hinge (it snaps in) beomes stretched and works worse. Need to spend more and get a can with a basket inside as well.
****Update Dec 24. I had called about the hinge/lid and they will send a new one as there is a 5 year warranty....amazing! on a 39 dollar plastic can! They did not ask me for any proof of purchase. 10 days later the wrong part arrived. The foot pedal. I called and they will send out the correct part...and apologized. 3 or 4 days later the correct part, the lid, arrived. Can is a good as new. With great service and warranty you can't go wrong with Simple Human products.

Customer Review: finally a trash can that outsmarts my lab puppies but not my hubby or kids!

i wasn't too keen on spending close to $40 bucks on this trash can, but i needed it badly enough to cough up the 3.99 for next day shipping with prime. my adorable lab puppies (brother & sister, age 7 months) love nothing more than ripping into a full trash can full of garbage. i think their fave treat, though, are the old poopy diapers that my 1 year old daughter has...and what is more disgusting than finding half eaten poop and shredded pee filled diapers all over the kitchen tile and carpet in the next room over. nasty!
anyway...this can does the trick. the labs can't open it with the lock on, but the kids (ages 4 & 3) and my husband can. it's worth the money, is extremely simple to put together and use, and fits right in with our decor.
what a relief!
