Customer Review: Best pull-out, hideaway can you can buy--especially for the great price!

I purchased many Simplehuman products for my home over the past few months. I never liked seeing my trash can out, especially in my beautiful kitchen. I searched and searched for the right hideaway can and came across this model.
At first, I was a bit discouraged by the specifications, as it seemed quite small. I ordered it anyway, figuring for the price if I wasnt happy I could put it install it in a spare bathroom.
I ordered from CHEFS and got it in 2 days (to PA). When I took it out of the box, I was surprised to see it was a standard size can. The frame and slider are extremely sturdy and durable. Cosmetically, the unit is a 10! I am a stickler for things looking perfect and orderly, and this one exceeded my expectations.It's high polished stainless and looks incredible! I looked at more than 10 in Lowes, Home Depot, BedBath.., ect, and none compared or even came close.
I have to add, the other reviewer stating this unit is poorly manufactured is stating a complete crock of s***! This is EXTREMELY well made! I plan on posting a personal photo on the site shortly.
If youre considering the purchase, stop considering and just buy! You won't be disappointed!

I love the Simplehuman brand generally, and this is a good product. However, it's not meant for everyone's kitchen cabinets. While I measured before I bought it and knew it would fit, when I actually placed it inside my cabinets, I realized I was wrong. The hinges make the can taller...1) I can't screw the hinges in, and 2) I have to tilt the can downward to pull it out to change the bag. It's still usable though! So I kept it. It's a good product, just one that's not good for my kitchen in particular.Customer Review: Could be sturdier

I love the benefit of having the trash under the counter and out of the way, but I have noticed that the frame should be more durable. Mine has already jumped out of the track and had to be adjusted. Now we are just really careful not to put any pressure on the can when we pack down the trash.Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for

Too many under the counter trash pull-outs secure the can only 1/2 way up the bin, and require that you use the bin itself as the "handle" to slide it in-and-out from under the counter. Assuming you are 5-6 feet tall, this would inevitably lead to pulling out the bin entirely, leaving the sliding mechanism behind with trash spilling and touching of garbage. Not good.
This product solves that problem perfectly. The construction is solid. It holds the trash bin securely. The install is simple. And, the handle ensures the bin comes out from under the counter with the trash in place.
Also...I saw some reviews indicating that the mechanism does not pull out far enough, requiring that you angle the trash bin to get it out from under the counter. I did not find this to be the case. I did install the mechanism the minimum 2 inches from the front edge of the cabinet. If I went any deeper that 2" into the cabinet I could see this might be a problem.

We recently had our kitchen remodeled. It did include under cabinet trash cans, however we recycle and did not want to have bins out in the open, in our new kitchen. So, we decided since we had plenty of room under the sink - we would buy one of these and try it out.
All I can say is PERFECTION! Comes with 8 screws - installed in 20 minutes and is great. Sturdy, smooth in and out rolling action and the bowed handle on the front is great. Bin is removable for easy cleaning and emptying. FYI - if you can't remove the bin after install because it hits the counter top edge or your cabinet door won't close - you installed it too close to the font edge of your cabinet face. It needs 2" inches of room for the handle to clear the cabinet door (so it does not hit). If you install it right - there are no issues.
I will be purchasing another since this one worked out so good. Now we have 2 under cabinet bins for recycle and two for trash. No unsightly bins in the kitchen! Gotta love simplicity! :)
